A joint operation between Hounslow Council and the Metropolitan Police took place last week to crack down on fly-tipping in Chiswick. During the operation, the enforcement team stopped vehicles and checked waste carrier licences. A number of FPNs were issued, and enforcement actions were taken against individuals found in breach of their legal responsibilities. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eXdGrP3a

I dont know all the facts. I realise that a lack of context is unhelpful. I understand first hand the pressures that sit squarely on the shoulders of our brave, professional and conscientious cops up and down the UK. I get the law states quite clearly that cops can use whatever force is necessary and reasonable in the circumstances to accomplish their lawful duty!! Notwithstanding the above, I confess to being somewhat sickened watching this, this morning. Even with a significant operational background in London, if I am struggling to watch this - goodness knows what the general public at large must be thinking...? In 1829 Sir Robert Peel set out the Peelian Principles of Policing. Here are just of them... 2. To recognise always that the power of the police to fulfil their functions and duties is dependent on public approval of their existence, actions and behaviour, and on their ability to secure and maintain public respect. 6. To use physical force only when the exercise of persuasion, advice and warning is found to be insufficient to obtain public cooperation to an extent necessary to secure observance of law or to restore order, and to use only the minimum degree of physical force which is necessary on any particular occasion for achieving a police objective. #policing #policingbyconsent #peelianprinciples #reasonableforce

The Indian government's initiative to provide air-conditioned helmets for traffic police in certain states is a commendable step towards enhancing the comfort and efficiency of law enforcement personnel. These specialized helmets are designed to protect officers from the harsh effects of extreme temperatures, thereby improving their focus and performance during long shifts. By addressing the challenging working conditions faced by traffic police, this initiative not only prioritizes their well-being but also demonstrates a progressive approach to supporting those who ensure road safety and order. This forward-thinking measure reflects a broader commitment to modernizing law enforcement infrastructure and underscores the importance of maintaining high standards of safety and operational effectiveness.

The Secret Service said local law enforcement was in charge of securing the building where the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was perched. The Pennsylvania State Police has said it was taking security cues from the Secret Service and provided all the requested resources. Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe said that a local police officer spotted Crooks before he opened fire but was unable to stop him. https://lnkd.in/geqPi-_a There are troubling questions about the security details and why the gunman was allowed to get into position in an environment that was supposed to be swept and secured. Why was the shooter not seen when some bystanders claimed to have seen him climb the building? The recent events raise serious questions about the effectiveness and coordination between agencies responsible for protecting public officials. It appears there might be negligence or a significant breakdown in communication channels among these agencies. Given their years of experience, such a diffusion of responsibility is concerning and points to potential systemic issues. High-level protection agencies like the Secret Service and Homeland Security are expected to operate with seamless communication and clear accountability. Any lapses can lead to severe consequences, as evidenced by the need for immediate policy reversals and reactive measures following threats or incidents. This situation highlights the necessity for robust protocols and continuous inter-agency collaboration to ensure the safety of public figures, especially in volatile political climates.

Well we certainly are not suprised. Working in the Driver Education system for 24 years I have experienced a decline in attitude by drivers who believe holding a license is a right not a responsibility. Driving requires a responsibility to the community that you are driving in. It also requires the teaching of skills and behaviours as it is a competency system Most all young people only learn city driving skills in small cars and therefore are ill equipped for: highway driving, mixing it with B Doubles, 110 kph roads and hazardous driving surfaces such as dirt or corrugated. Simulators Lisa Skaife need to used in the training environment as they are in most other industries. Skills and competencies need to explicitly taught. The hours based Graduated Licensing System is open to fraud and is a total failure. myDRIVESCHOOL®Adj Professor Colin Dwyer
Road deaths are up again despite Australian governments promising to halve the deadly toll by 2030. Meanwhile, state and territory governments are continuing to hide data that could explain what’s going wrong. It’s time politicians were transparent about the causes of crashes, the state of our roads and the effectiveness of police traffic enforcement. Data transparency will enable Australians to understand what is driving our road safety crisis. More information: datasaveslives.org.au
