START SHOPPING IN YOUR OWN WARDROBE! It's not easy buying different sizes of jeans, work pants, underwear, bras, T-shirts, sweaters, dresses, etc! It cost money for one. But also, the realisation of it will knock your confidence and your self image. For some women reading this, it will remind you of the younger version of yourself. When you looked in the mirror and liked what you saw. Some women have sadly never experienced this. It's got to point where you're happy being unhappy and thats why it's so easy to make bad choices over and over again. You can't continue like this, because it's only going to get worse. Try this approach instead - Stop wearing only black clothing. Stop hiding behind a new bigger cardigan. Start making some changes in your eating habits. Start setting some small goals ⁣⁣and sticking to them. Start shopping in your own wardrobe and aim to get into the smaller size clothes you've hung on to. You've hung onto them for a reason! Clear signs you are stuck in a style rut (and how to get out of it) - You wear the same things on repeat, gravitating towards a small section of your wardrobe - You rarely feel good in outfits. (There's an underlying feeling of boredom due to wearing the same style of clothes for years) - You are in an endless cycle of buying random things that make no real impact on your wardrobe or style I have seen it ALL and despite people coming from different backgrounds, with different jobs, living in different parts of the country or world - these style problems are universal. 🌍 The MAIN reason people get stuck in this boring rut is a lack of confidence to change things. But also, a lack of knowledge of HOW to change things up without making loads of mistakes (which can be expensive) Most people want to look put together and polished - It's not about being 'in fashion' - it's about getting a wearable wardrobe that fits your lifestyle but makes you look and feel good too. Here's what I recommend you do to get out of a rut: 1. Get clarity on HOW you want to dress? How do you want to show up and what do you want people to know about you? - in my experience most wardrobes are too casual overall and need some tailoring. 2. Step back from your wardrobe and assess the clothes in there. Are they old and tired, mostly practical, cheap, or the BIGGEST one to be wary of - are they clothes that suited a past version of you? - Many people hang on to clothes from different time in their lives that do not work for the version they are today which is kind of like living in the past. 3. Your clothes need to represent who you are today and help you to show up as that version - so what is missing? Identify the gaps - be focussed; - good basics (t-shirts, great jeans, knits are the glue that hold a wardrobe together) - A sprinkling of tailoring (I believe every wardrobe benefits from this) - Accessories that finish things off (the devil is in the detail) 😈 Once you have some clarity on what you need and want from your wardrobe you can be focussed on breaking out of a rut and shopping with more intent. When that happens, you will look and feel put together, refreshed, confident and more excited about your style and wardrobe! ✨ Your wardrobe will represent who you are today, not who you were five years ago and that is so important.
