🚀 We are pleased to launch the Federation's Manifesto for 2024/25. This is a live document that we will use with the aim of influencing policymakers, their advisors, and officials, in charge of shaping policy leading up to the general election and beyond. We invite all FAB members to join our efforts and help us bring our Manifesto to the forefront of the attention of policymakers to strengthen the voice of awarding and assessment organisations and add weight and influence. Our five key requests are: ◾ Ensure that a long-term, future-ready skills plan for the UK is developed in any machinery of government reforms. ◾ Protect the prospects and opportunities for learners by pausing and urgently reviewing the reform and defunding of Level 3 provision in England. ◾ Ensure that the interests of all learners and employers (including SMEs) are protected during any reform of the Apprenticeship Levy, and that apprenticeship opportunities continue to be open to a wide range of learners. ◾ Retain independent end-point assessment for apprentices to demonstrate competence. ◾ Trust Awarding Organisations and End Point Assessment Organisations to deliver high-quality qualifications and assessments. Review the current regulatory burden and reinforce the five principles of good regulation: ▪ Proportional ▪ Consistent ▪ Transparent ▪ Accountable ▪ Targeted Visit our website to find out how you can help spread our message: https://lnkd.in/ePXrdVJv

Exploring the connection between Business and Further Education at the FE + Skills Collective The FE + Skills Collective, in partnership with Education and Training Foundation was a collaborative event last week in Birmingham which was all about Bridging Policy and Pedagogy... and collective intelligence to help shape a report (which is being written as we speak). The Collective brought together different parts of the FE and Skills Eco-system. ... but we want to build on each Collective and so often, at conferences, we can meet and speak to the same people, (this doesn't appear to be the case at Collectives).. but we ran a few experiments in the background of the FE + Skills Collective. Removing things like the job titles on the name badges, mixing up the groups for the Collective intelligence .... One experiment was to deliberately ... to have someone (a business owner and media specialist), who is completely outside of FE and Skills to support the running of the event on the day. What was their take on FE and Skills, engagement with business, learners, Skills England and more? So here is Alistair Gibson's write up and reflective on the FE + Skills Collective. https://lnkd.in/eHzTU5_X #FESkillsCollective

Good to hear that the King's Speech to Parliament included several elements that support our manufacturing base including - - Stability being the cornerstone of the Government’s economic policy. Critical for decision making in industry. - Securing economic growth through a new partnership with business by establishing an Industrial Strategy Council, hopefully delivering a common voice between Government and industry. - Pursuing sustainable growth by encouraging investment in industry, skills and new technologies. - Supporting local growth plans that bring economic benefit to communities. - Raising educational standards and breaking down barriers to opportunity by establishing Skills England, which will have a new partnership with employers at its heart. It will be important that Skills England understand the future skills needed to support a word-class manufacturing sector. - Reforming the apprenticeship levy, which will hopefully encourage more businesses to look at earn and learn schemes. We look forward to working with our partners to support these initiatives
