What's the one thing you absolutely LOVE about being a speaker? (This was a question I was tagged into a week ago on a Facebook group).
The answer I typed in the comments was "RESULTS".
I woke up the other morning to an amazing email from Mark Winterton Area GM voco Orchard Singapore.
His final words were "Our guest love score is now 84 ytd which is a whopping 14 points up on the end of the first year and we are green for the first time ever".
From a global virtual event for voco 18 months ago with my good friends Julie Cheesman MCIPD & Devina Morjaria, Mark and his team set about creating 'the gap'. Nine months later and I had the pleasure of delivering a LIVE in person day packed with tailored stories, ideas and techniques for the entire team in Singapore (including a special F1 related challenge).
Whilst there Mark took me on a tour of the building to meet the team and to reveal exactly how they bring Celebrity Service to life. The full explanation will be great feature for a future book one day, but for now they include;
* A basement which is a shine to exceptional service (this is where every team member will enter and visualise what CS truly looks like).
* They visually recognise and reward like nothing I have seen before.
* And hey in the boardroom they also have a pic of me to keep the team on their service toes.
* There are literally hundreds of examples, featuring all of the team and the guest feedback they receive.
For me speaking is all about the RESULTS. A speaker should move your team and delegates to take action and reap the rewards. Results can vary from increased NPR scores, awards and accolades and contracts and additional business won. It's why I have a dedicated website page for just these amazing moments. It's the greatest part of what I do.
Huge congratulations to Mark, Cosmo and your sensational Singaporean team. You have taken service levels to another level.
In a week's time I shall be keynoting at a huge IHG conference, and I think I know how to close it out....

Some days count more than others: they are made for bringing us all together.
A month ago, ChangeNOW was an opportunity for our Group to discuss the power of collective action. To leverage that platform for change, with our employees, general managers of our hotels, or #SebastienBazin, to find effective and sustainable responses for optimizing water, among other things; to participate in the #transition through concrete and tangible actions alongside many key players in the sector.
Today, we celebrate #EarthDay as a ritual for all Accor employees and #Heartists. Another opportunity to turn words into actions, to engage our hotels around the world in a common dynamic! Toronto, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, Colombia, Turkey... Everywhere, our hoteliers are involved in building a “better than home” experience while simultaneously working towards a better future. Improving the quality of #hospitality while turning sustainable tourism from a utopia into a reality. But a long road is still ahead of us: let’s keep pushing the boundaries, sharing initiatives, implementing solutions.
