This year taught me that sometimes the most powerful healthcare insights come from being a patient, not a consultant. Between kidney stones sending me to the ER and an 18-wheeler introducing my car to a median barrier, I got an unplanned, up-close look at our healthcare system. These experiences only strengthened my resolve: we must fix this broken system. 2024 brought significant transitions. I joined a new team to expand my impact in creating sustainable, patient-centered healthcare strategies. Meanwhile, Maybe in Midland-Odessa earned its second consecutive Gold Web Social Media Presence award, proving that authentic community building matters more than ever. Three posts that resonated deeply with our community: "An Unplanned Look at Healthcare" Every beep of my hospital wristband scanner reminded me how far we've strayed from actual care delivery https://lnkd.in/gQE-Ar2h "A Reflection on the State of Healthcare in America" When tragedy sparks celebration, we can no longer ignore the disconnect between the public and healthcare leaders "The Healthcare System Cost Breakdown" Why we underspend on primary care and overspend on hospitalizations - and how to fix it Beyond the professional realm, this year taught me about resilience. Graduating from Leadership Midland, we raised $50,000 for community projects. Watching my son graduate and enlist in the Coast Guard reminded me why building better systems matters - it's about creating a healthier future for the next generation. In 2025, I'm focusing on leveraging my role as a self-funded healthcare consultant to create more transparent, human-centered healthcare solutions for mid-market employers. The system needs fixing, and that work starts now. #HealthcareReform #PatientCenteredCare #EmployeeBenefits

Please share and send this to your Senators and House members in your state as just one example of why Trump's picks are so important tt a new better and greater America. Thank you. A Stakeholder's Perspective on RFK Jr.'s Appointment to HHS Public health in America is at a critical juncture, with chronic diseases on the rise and widespread mistrust in healthcare institutions. RFK Jr.’s appointment to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) offers an opportunity to address these systemic challenges by promoting transparency, innovation, and individual medical autonomy. As a proven advocate for reform, RFK Jr. brings a fresh perspective to entrenched bureaucratic systems, aiming to prioritize evidence-based practices and patient-centered policies that better align with the public’s needs. Critics of RFK Jr.’s appointment often dismiss his approach as unconventional. Yet, his commitment to questioning outdated public health strategies and fostering open dialogue is precisely what the current system needs. Transparency in healthcare decision-making is crucial for rebuilding public trust, empowering patients, and addressing long-standing inefficiencies in federal health agencies. RFK Jr.’s emphasis on involving diverse stakeholders and encouraging grassroots participation ensures that health policies reflect the voices of the people they serve. RFK Jr.’s leadership has the potential to transform America’s health infrastructure by challenging existing paradigms and restoring faith in public institutions. His focus on addressing chronic diseases, encouraging collaborative solutions, and empowering individuals through access to information marks a significant step toward a more inclusive and effective healthcare system. Supporting his vision means advocating for a healthcare future that prioritizes innovation, accountability, and the well-being of all Americans.

20 minutes of your time well spent
A few weeks ago I was honoured to be invited to talk about health care improvement-by-design at an NHS IMPACT event. Afterwards I was asked if the session had been recorded. What a great question! It hadn't and that reminded me just how unproductive a traditional conference can be as way to share learning. So, I recorded a narrated video of the 20 minute talk and shared with some people that I trust to give warts-and-all feedback. And they did 🤔. Thankfully it was not all warts! So, I will be brave and share the video and invite feedback from anyone. The link is https://lnkd.in/eUfDPusi.

The #DarziReview is a great diagnostic. For those who worked in primary care through the calamitous 'reforms' of the 2010s, it's almost cathartic... Fact is that healthcare is knowledge intensive. Knowledge solutions, and health knowledge and library services must surely be integral to the upcoming 10 year 'treatment' plan? How else can the NHS genuinely make 'a bang for its buck' on research, keep pace with the speed of innovation. improve productivity, learn from what goes wrong (and right), enable staff to learn throughout their careers, and bring high quality evidence and information to decision makers from Board to ward? #KM Department of Health and Social Care #Innovation #SpreadAndAdoption
