“He drew a circle that shut me out— Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout. But Love and I had the wit to win: We drew a circle that took him in!” Edwin Markham wrote these words in a different era. But they embody how many women feel in the world of technology. Shut out for viewing the world through a different lens. Outsiders, rebels to the status quo. So we’ve created our own circles where different perspectives are celebrated. That’s why we set up Women4Tech. The tech world is too exclusive but impacts all of us. We aim to draw circles where women have more than a voice – they have power in a world dominated by technology. All of us, whatever our background, should contribute and ensure our voices are heard because technology is for everyone and impacts everyone. #womenintech #feminism #dei #inclusion @dr-sumarie-roodt-63225414 Enjoy this? ♻️ Repost it to your network and follow me @digitalHolly for more. 🙌🏻 I write about navigating a tech-driven future, informed by my diverse experiences driving change and by my passion for exploring leadership, culture, and the influential power of women today 🙌🏻 All views are my own.

Yesterday, I had the honor of attending the final 2024 Female Leadership Community event at Odgers Berndtson Luxembourg hosted by the amazing Olga Jeczmyk and Agnieszka Zajac. The event once again highlighted the incredible diversity of talent and experience in Luxembourg. More than 20 women, representing nearly as many different nationalities and backgrounds, shared their stories. It was eye-opening to hear about their different experiences growing up as girls and later as women in business, yet everyone faces similar challenges in various industries in Luxembourg. Building and strengthening women’s networks is crucial for career development and advancement. On the other hand, it's equally important for women to forge strong networks with their male peers. Female role models are inspirational, but we need male mentors to champion female promotions to truly make strides towards gender equality—not just in tech, but across all sectors. However, research indicates that women often face self-imposed barriers, such as hesitation and gendered modesty, which prevent them from networking as effectively as men. Women tend to harbor moral concerns about "exploiting" social ties and often underestimate their professional self-worth, leading to less effective networking. To all the amazing women and men out there: how do you plan to engage with your networks today? #FemaleLeadership #WomenEmpowerment #Networking #DiversityAndInclusion
