What is Airmanship? Airmanship is more than just flying, it's about making informed decisions, managing risks and maintaining situational awareness throughout the flight. The principles of airmanship are demonstrated when applying the knowledge of aviation to the act of flying. There are many ways to increase one's airmanship. Flying different aeroplanes, learning new techniques and humbling yourself is a great way to improve airmanship. Constantly refreshing yourself with knowledge is also essential to maintain and increase airmanship. Keeping yourself up to date on current and upcoming regulations or even your own aircraft's system is a must for all good pilots. Not everyone gets the same Training and sharing information has proven to be beneficial as flying with different people allows you to learn new techniques all the time.

Aviation is a small world indeed! ✈️ Back in July 2001, Andrew conducted a Final Progress Check on an RAF Cadet Paul as he completed his Flying Scholarship. Fast-forward to a few months ago, he had the pleasure of inducting that same person into an Instructing Team at Yorkshire Aviation Academy. And just recently, he flew a Boeing 737-300 to Ibiza with none other than the same man! "It’s been fun to fly with Paul again after all these years and is proof, that aviation really is a small world!" #AviationLife #AviationIndustry

One of the most challenging phases of your #FlightTraining is the #IFR training. Our #cadets learn to fly only by referencing flight instruments during this phase. They learn the procedures that will later on become daily usage during their #airline careers. Departures, Holdings, Arrivals, Approaches, Procedure turns, interceptions, and many more, become commonplace during these months of training. Our #FlightInstructors guide them every step of the way to ensure they become proficient above standard.

🚨 A Remarkable Display of Skill and Calm Under Pressure Recently, at my hometown’s training airfield, a single-engine training aircraft, the Diamond DA-40NG (RA-02641), faced an unexpected challenge. During a routine touch-and-go maneuver, the aircraft lost its nose wheel. What happened next was a true demonstration of the pilot's skill and composure. For over two hours, the aircraft circled the area, burning off fuel to ensure a safe landing. With only the instructor and the cadet on board, they were faced with the daunting task of landing without a front wheel. Thanks to their thorough training and calm decision-making, they managed to bring the aircraft down safely against all odds. ✈️ Have you ever experienced or witnessed anything like this? #Aviation Aviation Insights
