'Help!'
What event in life can't be explained with a Beatles song? I know of none. Not yet.
Funny concept. To help someone help you to help them to help you to help...
Society. Countries. Businesses. Households. Everyone.
It's unique. Shivani Jadhav said it perfectly:
'We need men to stand up for our rights, too! We're all in this together.'
What a humbling prospect.
Men have a mandate? Gentlemen unite. Some men wonder still.
'Can anyone speak for a gender?'
'Can I believe anyone about what any group of people say they represent or the words that they say?'
'Do the words of someone in another country matter to me?'
'Why do I feel like this might be relevant but I don't know how it is?'
'Am I allowed to still "be a man" though? Either way?'
'Aren't men who are feminists gay or just looking to get laid?'
'Isn't it enough that I eat my wife's marmalade on toast and that I used to eat my mum's strawberry jam on toast?'
'No one speaks for anyone so I can ignore this right?'
'I'm not a member of the human race when I see a human speak, right?'
Well. The thing is this.
You're a human. And anyone else is a human too.
Women are wiser than men.
There's a reason you don't have your life together enough to make toast for even yourself. Because women pick up all kinds of slack for you in so many ways you aren't aware of. And if you don't get that: You're the scourge of the human race. Statistically.
All good men admit that. But!
Some consolation for men:
1. It's weird that we don't have GENDER STUDIES. A fair and balanced discussion of gender amongst and between the genders. I did feminist theory in university and people looked through me like my opinion was from the moon. And I was the only one who ever DID THE DAMN READINGS.
2. Gender is odd. It's sexy and confusing and manifest in the office, the home, the boardroom, the bus, the subway, the train, the restaurant, at parent teacher meetings, on TV, on Netflix, in music, on ads, at the bus stop, in porn, at the beach, in the cocktail name 'Sex on/in/around/all over the beach' Etc.
3. When the rule books in the 2020s are still being updated, you can very easily be forgiven for being worried, confused and bewildered. We're getting through it still. But with distinction and flying colours I'd say.
So, Madonna just performed to a couple million people in Brazil. 1.6 million people. A record for any music concert.
Here's a copy paste job for the ages. Taylor Swift's records lately:
'Best-selling album of 2024, accomplished in under 48 hours.
Biggest U.S. sales week of Swift's career, surpassing 1989 (Taylor's Version)
Largest first-week vinyl sales (859,000) in the Nielsen era.
TTPD makes Swift the only artist to have seven albums debut with over 1 million units sold in their first week.'
For men who want to get involved and updated. On the 6th of March, Addie Whightsil wrote a nifty article titled '11 Women Who Broke Records in 2024'.
Keep your eyes and ears open.
Wisdom is a click away!
