In defence of Toronto…   Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of people complaining about the Toronto business market.   People saying it's not a great place to live because it’s hard to do business, the taxes are bad and it’s difficult to advance your career.    Whenever I speak with people from different markets, I realize how tough it is for them to get money, talent, specialized staff, education, logistics, and everything else they need.   I have a friend with a business in Iowa. Toronto is not Iowa. We visited Saskatoon last March for a production opportunity. Toronto is not Saskatoon.   If you have a problem with the market in Toronto, why don’t you try scaling a business in Fredericton or move to the Northeast or Midwest U.S. where populations are dwindling?   If your company is in Toronto, the opportunities for growth and acquisition are endless.   Sure, Austin is up and coming and popping like crazy. Of course, you can go bicoastal and head to New York, or you can look at San Francisco. Why I Chose U.S. Real Estate A few years ago, I was focused on opportunities in Australia But no matter how hard I worked, the returns just weren’t where I wanted them to be. It felt like I had hit a ceiling. I knew there had to be more out there. That’s when I started looking at U.S. real estate. The potential for a 2x multiple wasn’t just theory—it was happening. I saw deals doubling in value within just 5 years. These types of returns were hard to find elsewhere. Shifting to U.S. real estate wasn’t easy.
