🚢🏉 Rugby Union and Shoreside Maritime Recruitment: Lessons in Teamwork and Resilience This past Saturday, December 14th, Rugby Club Valencia faced Sant Cugat Rugby in a fiercely contested match. The final score was 23-16 in our favor, with Sant Cugat scoring a converted try in the dying moments. A powerful reminder that success requires effort and focus right up to the final whistle. Unfortunately, our number 3 sustained a calf injury during the game, and I had to carry him off the field. While it’s never ideal to see a player sidelined, moments like these highlight the importance of teamwork and adaptability—values that are just as vital in the professional world as they are on the pitch. In shoreside maritime recruitment, we’re tasked with finding skilled boatbuilders, carpenters, team leaders, and project managers who can bring their unique strengths to the table. Much like rugby, success in this sector is about assembling the right mix of talent, ensuring every individual plays to their strengths, and building teams that work together seamlessly. Saturday’s win was a testament to the power of collaboration, determination, and mutual support. These are the same qualities we strive to foster in the shoreside maritime industry—creating teams that can overcome challenges and achieve great things together. Congratulations to Rugby Club Valencia on this important victory, and here’s to channeling that same energy into building strong, resilient teams both on and off the field! #Teamwork #RugbyUnion #MaritimeRecruitment #RugbyClubValencia #Resilience

🏉 Helping the next generation of rugby stars tackle their financial futures! Gaining more #sportscience experience in 3 steps Alot of students say to me there are no jobs or work experience opportunities out there, so why don't you create your own... Step 1 Choose a sport e.g. Rugby Union Step 2 Go to the National Governing Body website for the that sport, enter your postcode and set the distance for 20 miles. From the RFU website, I typed in rugby clubs within 20 miles of where I live and there are 17 clubs in my area (image below) - that is 17 potential opportunities to develop your skills Step 3 Reach out to each club and explain what you can offer and how you can help their athletes. I guarantee you wont get a response from every club but all you need is that 1 club to give you a chance to show them what you can do Top Tip: Do not send a generic email or message, make an effort, make it personal - find out key contacts e.g. the club captain, Head Coach, have a look at how their season is going

Thanks for sharing Siddharth DEY. this post really touched me today, That 3 letter word "ego" can often get in the way of healthy communication, especially in team environments. When people start to focus on their individual pride or sense of superiority, they can forget that collaboration and mutual respect are what truly drive success. Ego clashes create a toxic atmosphere, turning what should be productive partnerships into power struggles. Being "grateful", is a powerful antidote to this. When we stop to appreciate the opportunities and gifts we’ve been given, we can shift our mindset from one of entitlement to one of humility and connection. Gratitude reminds us that success isn’t a solo journey; it's often a result of many factors—other people’s support, timing, and even luck. If more people took a moment to reflect on that, perhaps they’d engage with each other from a place of understanding and respect rather than competition and ego. A reminder for us all to treat others with kindness, especially when things are going well with you.
Possibly the only person on LinkedIn who is NOT a leader, Influencer, motivated, result oriented, achiever, visionary, etc etc!
“Down Syndrome but high sportsmanship and highest humanity" Para-karate champion Farzad Safavi Vardin demonstrated what true sportsmanship is really like. He was the winner of the gold medal at the 2023 Para-Karate Championship K22 in the ‘Intellectually Impaired Male’ category. After winning the match, Farzad Safavi Vardin saw that his opponent was visibly upset after the loss. After being declared the winner, the champion raised his hand. However, Vardin went over to his opponent and raised his hand in an act of true sportsmanship. There is so much to learn from this world. When egos are low! When there is no superiority complex! And when you don't try to do anything special. Just be a human! With that note, wishing you all a wonderful Week ahead, Goodfellas!!

Hello LinkedIn, I've recently realised that I've never properly introduced myself so here's some things you may not know about me: ➡️ I'm originally from the great place called St Helens but now live on the Wirral. ➡️ Started off as the 1st employee at Quirky as an apprentice and now my role is to liaise with our client base to make sure they are happy and progress is moving in the right direction! ➡️ I play rugby 12 months of the year playing both rugby league and rugby union. ➡️ I have 4 dogs which are my world (3 Chihuahuas called Ralph, Pearl & Hodge and a Scotland Terrier called Molly) 🐾 ➡️ I appeared in the One Show as a child as a feature for the Grand National. ➡️ I used to own shares in a bus with my Grandad. ➡️ I've been to a few different countries but been to Benidorm over 20 times. That gets me the nickname Benidorm Duffy in the office 😆 ➡️ I got into marketing after the sudden passing of my dad. It made me want to do something with my life which I am now doing. I actually got the email for an interview on the day of my dads funeral. ➡️ If I'm not on my laptop or getting muddy playing rugby, you'll probably find me on the couch at home watching either my beloved St Helens, Boxing, MMA or a good series on Netflix 🤣 #introduction | #marketing

Here is great advice for leaders in organizations large and small! To the sports coaches and educators out there—remember, the work you do may seem small or unnoticed in the moment, but the impact you make will resonate long after you're forgotten. 🌟 My good friend Jean-Jacques Oelofse shared some timeless principles from his experience coaching #rugby that translate beautifully into #leadership and #life: 🏉 Simplicity and hard work beat talent. ⏱️ Start on time, end on time. 💡 Keep it simple and fun. ✅ Show respect, expect respect. 🏁 Expect excellence. Whether on the field, in the #classroom, or in the #boardroom, these values create the foundation for success and growth. 💼🏉🎓 Dale Carnegie of Greater North Carolina Jean-Jacques Oelofse Wake County Public School System | Durham Public Schools
I love coaching and I love Rugby. In my spare time I coach a local high school rugby club program. It has grown significantly over the last few years and last night we had our parent's meeting. I was looking for some videos of the club and came across this one made by one of the coaches from the club about myself. Really thought what he said is very valid for business: - Simplicity and hard work beats Talent - Start on time, end on time. - Keep sessions simple and fun for players. - Show respect, expect respect - Expect Excellence
