🚢🏉 Rugby Union and Shoreside Maritime Recruitment: Lessons in Teamwork and Resilience This past Saturday, December 14th, Rugby Club Valencia faced Sant Cugat Rugby in a fiercely contested match. The final score was 23-16 in our favor, with Sant Cugat scoring a converted try in the dying moments. A powerful reminder that success requires effort and focus right up to the final whistle. Unfortunately, our number 3 sustained a calf injury during the game, and I had to carry him off the field. While it’s never ideal to see a player sidelined, moments like these highlight the importance of teamwork and adaptability—values that are just as vital in the professional world as they are on the pitch. A glimpse into the World of Cricket Event Management; The ICC Men's World Cup T20 Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier B. Working closely with the team at Cricket Kenya was an eye-opening experience. The intensity of the logistics around international sporting events is unparalleled. Making on-the-spot decisions, especially with live coverage and a vast international audience, was both challenging and exhilarating but similar to a programmers joy when things work out. Public Relations skills are paramount. Managing the crowd, though often underrated, is crucial. Cricket, being a gentleman's game, means the audience is generally cooperative, but this also adds a layer of complexity, considering their needs are quite unique. When such events are successful, the organizers leave the venue with a sigh of relief bundled in joy. The thrill of being part of such an event was on another level. Given my passion for the sport, this is a path definitely worth venturing into. I'm unsure how I feel about being asked to play for Orrell Rugby Union Football Club (ORUFC) Vet's team when I've not turned 30 yet. However, after nearly 25 years at the club, I can see why I was added to the group. Training with the group has taught me a few things: 🏉 Experience always wins - this group's number of rugby hours is well into its 1000s. They think their way around the pitch, working smarter and not harder. 🏉 Trusting the process - they know what works and what doesn't. 🏉 Rugby players come in all shapes and sizes, and so do their specialisms. Some props may think they are stand-offs, and some wingers might think they are forwards, but in the proper role, they are priceless. 🏉 These guys are absolute legends of the game, not just for Orrell Rugby Union Football Club (ORUFC) but for the sport.
