While nearing 2021 levels, discretionary categories still lag, though services like leisure travel and restaurants are poised to capture more spending. The results of Deloitte's Global Consumer Trends survey conducted late February are available. Key takeaways: spending intentions globally have strengthened significantly since falling sharply in late 2022. Also savings intentions reached the baseline for the second time over the past year. Especially as regards the travel & hospitality sector: leisure travel booking intentions already indicate a strong summer travel season.
