"No, sweetie, we can't light the menorah yet. It's 2pm." To my fellow synagogue professionals who are also parents during Hanukkah: I see you. I see you: • Writing program descriptions while supervising latke-making • Updating member communications between dreidel tournaments • Coordinating with staff while your kids beg to open "just one present" • Running community events AND trying to make magical memories at home The juggle is real. The emails don't stop. The programs must go on. And our kids? They just want us present for every moment of these eight crazy nights. But here's what I keep reminding myself: We're literally living the mission we work for - building Jewish community and creating Jewish memories. Sometimes that means sending emails from the kitchen counter. Sometimes it means bringing our kids to work. And sometimes it means accepting that good enough is... actually enough. The world needs Africa for many reasons, including its natural resources, growing population, and strategic location:  Natural resources: Africa has a large portion of the world's natural resources, including oil, natural gas, minerals, water, arable land, forests, and wildlife. Africa has 30% of the world's mineral reserves, 40% of its gold, and 12% of its oil reserves.  Strategic location: Africa's location can help facilitate global trade.  Growing population: Demographers estimate that one in four people on Earth will be African by 2050.  Human capital: Africa has the human capital to accelerate productivity and reimagine its economic growth.  Inventions: Some of the earliest human inventions, such as the hand-axe and fire manipulation, originated in Africa.  ***However, a significant share of Africa's natural resources are used unsustainably or lost to illegal activities. The UNCTAD report recommends that African countries receive debt relief and more supply chain finance to strengthen their supply chains. #NAACP #WorldHistory #BlackCulture #AmericanHistory #TimeMagazine

Have you heard the phrase “Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone”? Christmas reminds us of the importance of peace within our lives and within our communities. If we don’t know how important peace is, we soon become aware of its value when we do not have it. Many of us might secretly be seeking peace in our lives – to find ways to not be troubled by our experiences or the hurt we may have caused others. This can lead to choices which don’t actually bring peace, they just reduce our memory of the things which cause us pain. However, this escape from remembering is usually temporary. Although it may not be easy, the encouragement to find peace on Earth and good will to all people can bring longer-lasting freedom from pain and disappointment. As much as it is possible, try to make peace with your past, which cannot be changed.
