Support Medicare O&P Patient-Centered Care Act Introduced in the Senate! Take 1 min https://p2a.co/rstnncx This legislation directly affects orthotic and prosthetic coverage!!! Through its three major provisions, the legislation would: prohibit “drop shipping” of custom orthoses and prostheses to Medicare beneficiaries; ensure Medicare beneficiaries can access the full range of orthotic care from one O&P practitioner rather than requiring patients to visit multiple providers when the treating orthotist or prosthetist does not have a competitive bidding contract and; ensure Medicare beneficiaries can access replacement custom-fitted and custom-fabricated orthoses when a change in their condition or clinical needs occurs. #orthoticandprostheticcoverage #Medicare O&P Patient-Centered Care Act

The long anticipated final CTP LCD was released last week and you can find the details below. Many individuals and groups worked tirelessly to ensure that clinicians continue to have a wide variety of tools available to assess and treat our patients with wounds. However, a reminder that the first thought of a good clinician is never “what should I put on this” but a careful consideration of the individual in front of them. “To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail' (Abraham Maslow). #woundcare #woundhealing #healthpolicy #patientcenteredcare #womeninmedicine

What is the prevailing perspective on this final LCD? Seems to have taken into account more research and some of the feedback from the draft but what will the impact be on patients? How does industry feel about the evidence requirements for coverage of those products not currently covered?

Medicare's rules for incident-to and split/shared services give your practice the opportunity to gain extra revenue for a non-physician practitioner's (NPP) work. But the chance to receive 100% of the physician payment when an NPP does all or some of the work for an encounter comes with the risk of significant pain if members of your practice, including physicians and NPPs, don't follow the rules. Reimbursement for Treatment-In-Place supports the ability of EMS to treat and evaluate patients in the home without going to the hospital for non-emergent or routine medical issues. Support H.R. 8977 Improving Access to Emergency Medical Services Act, introduced by Representatives Carey (R-OH-15) and Doggett (D-TX-37). The legislation creates a five-year model payment program to test and evaluate a Treatment-In-Place (TIP) model to improve aging Medicare beneficiaries’ access to EMS services after calling 911.

The cost of hip replacements across the United States can vary by over 1000%! To put that into perspective, in Texas a hip replacement can cost as low as $11,100, but travel to either coast and prices skyrocket to over $125,000! This major inconsistency highlights a nationwide issue in our healthcare system. Patients deserve fairness, transparency, and reliability when it comes to medical pricing. Their health should not be gambled alongside their livelihood! #pricetransparency #hipreplacement #DPC achdpc.com advocatesforhealthcare.org
