The trucking industry is undergoing a transformation with the adoption of software-defined vehicle (SDV) standards, following the path of the automotive sector. A modular, clean software architecture with well-defined abstraction layers between the base software and application layer is crucial for achieving interoperability and scalability in this domain. As strong advocates for the AUTOSAR framework, we believe that similar standards could be highly beneficial for OEMs in the trucking industry, cascading seamlessly to Tier 1 suppliers and aligning with SDV principles. At Methodica Technologies, we are well-equipped to support your vision as technology partners. Our expertise in software architecture, engineering, and integration allows us to assist in defining and implementing your next-generation SDV standards for heavy-duty trucks. We are eager to collaborate on this journey and contribute to shaping the product roadmap that aligns with the industry's evolving needs. Please feel free to reach out to us at operations@methodicatech.com to discuss how we can support your engineering and technological requirements.

Great companies focus on impressing their customers. Other. Lousy. Automakers (pun intended) focus on impressing investors. 😉 In product management, one vital lesson is that the difference between a great product and a lousy one might not be glaring on Day 1. However, over 10 years, the distinction becomes unmistakable. Great products stand the test of time because they’re designed, built, tested, and continuously improved with the customer in mind. That is the ultimate testament to solid product management. By the way, this is the Honda Activa Electric. Bookmark this post and revisit it in 10 years—you’ll see what I mean when I say great products focus on customers. #ProductManagement #CustomerFirst

Kaizen: The Engine of Japanese Automotive Innovation In Japan, "kaizen" (改善) isn't just a word—it's a philosophy that drives continuous improvement across industries. Nowhere is this more evident than in the automotive sector. Key aspects of kaizen in Japanese car manufacturing: 1. Incremental progress: Small, daily improvements compound over time. 2. Employee empowerment: Workers at all levels contribute ideas for enhancement. 3. Waste reduction: Continuously identifying and eliminating inefficiencies. 4. Quality focus: Striving for perfection in every process and product. Toyota, the pioneer of kaizen in manufacturing, has used this approach to become a global leader. Other Japanese automakers like Honda and Nissan have also embraced kaizen, leading to: ● Higher productivity ● Improved quality control ● Increased innovation ● Enhanced employee satisfaction As the automotive industry faces new challenges like electrification and autonomous driving, the kaizen mindset will be crucial for adaptation and growth. What lessons can your organization learn from kaizen? How might this philosophy drive innovation in your field? #Kaizen #JapaneseManufacturing #AutomotiveInnovation #ContinuousImprovement

Good people working in a bad system create bad outcomes. In 1983 Toyota was looking to test its Toyota Production System in the US. GM had recently closed their worst plant, in Fremont, CA. Absenteeism was 20%. It had double digit defects and their production time was twice that of other plants. The employees were considered “the worst workforce in the automobile industry.” Toyota chose this location as their venture into the US. Toyota and GM entered into a joint partnership called NUMMI (New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc.), reopening the old Fremont plant. Toyota hired back 85% of the former workers and got started. They made systemic changes, introducing their Toyota Production System to people and setting up the plant to work this way. What result does Toyota see at NUMMI? Remember, these are the worst employees in the entire automobile industry. These really bad people probably can’t help creating a bad outcome, right? Wrong. They get super impressive results. Within two years NUMMI had the highest quality and highest productivity of any GM plant. Absenteeism went down to 3% (from 20%). These same people went from last to first by changing their system. The system wins. ----- I deep dive into topics like this in this in my newsletter. Subscribe for free to get weekly emails delivered to your inbox! https://lnkd.in/ddWFBr5M
