📢 📢 Calling for your support!📢 📢 I've entered in this international entrepreneurship competition that was posted on the United Nation's website. To make it into the next stage of the competition, I need to make it to the top ten. I'm currently holding a spot at top nine, but the voting is not over until the August 31. So, please vote so that we can share this business idea with more people. My business pitch is in the link, and it's called Trash to Treasure. It will combine a thrift store, craft workshop, and craft marketplace (like Etsy) into one business. The idea is to create a circular economy within the facility. Because Trash to Treasure combines three different business ideas into one, there will be less competition. Greatly appreciate it if you can vote for me! To vote, just click“vote now,” then confirm the vote in the email that they send. If you don’t see the email, it might have went to spam. Here’s the link: https://lnkd.in/gQmtCSpb

YOU and errybody you know is invited to celebrate the relaunch of the new Barter Black® platform (virtually)! Why is it new? Because we’ve integrated trade credits called Barter Bucks! Instead of direct exchanges—service for service, at the same time for the same value—you can now purchase what you need for your business from anyone on the platform using Barter Bucks without needing to exchange a service or product immediately. Why would someone accept Barter Bucks for their service? Because they can then use those Barter Bucks to purchase what they need for their business. It’s an ecosystem of exchanged goods and collaboration. That’s the Barter Black® way. This innovation is set to revolutionize how Black entrepreneurs start, grow, and scale their businesses. We’re putting more business owners in a position to move out of solopreneurship with the help they need. Join us Sunday, August 11th at 7PM EST to help us celebrate this transformative new platform 🔥 Register today!
Welcome! You are invited to join a meeting: Barter Black® Relaunch Party. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting.

I gave away £25,000 to a business on stage 😱😱 My friend Masibu Manima asked me to keynote his business conference Direct To Culture. Mas is one of the Godfathers of the e-commerce scene and his agency Translate Culture is behind some of the biggest success stories in the country. I said I’d speak only if he gave my speaking fee to someone who had shown they were building a sellable company. After running through several entries, we eventually picked a winner PetCremation - who are building a smart marketplace for pet burials!! Simple. Scalable. A ton of optionality. 3 takeaways from my talk: 1) Periodically take weeks off your business to see what breaks, then come back and fix it. Do this repeatedly until nothing breaks. 2. As entrepreneurs we should always be thinking about how we’re building a machine independent of us and not just a well paid job. 3. The biggest factor in whether you’re able to sell is whether you’re in a growing market. Pick growing markets over passion if you aim to get wealthy. The wealth is made by owning not by managing. Great event and look forward to doing more of these fun games at the next speaking events.

Where are you shopping this Small Business Saturday? When we created Small Business Saturday at American Express as founding sponsor in 2010, the vision was to celebrate and encourage the backbone of our economy: small businesses. The ubiquitous love for small businesses grew into a nationwide movement overnight that has persevered for the last 15 years, highlighting the vital role these businesses play in driving innovation, creating jobs, and enriching our communities. Why shop small? Fuel the engines of economic growth: Small businesses account for 99% of all businesses in the U.S., employing nearly half of those of us who don’t work for the government. These businesses are responsible for creating two-thirds of net new jobs, providing opportunity in our own backyards. Encourage more growth now than ever: Since 2020, entrepreneurship has surged to historic levels. Between 2021 and 2023, a record-breaking 16 million new business applications were filed, with 5.5 million in 2023 alone—a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit alive and thriving in America -- Let's Americans are creating the businesses they want to work for! Drive the Multiplier Effect: When you shop small, 67 cents of every dollar spent stays in your community, helping to fund schools, parks, infrastructure, and more. Build neighborhood resilliency: Successful small business districts often make neighborhoods more desirable to live in and proximity to vibrant local businesses—cafes, restaurants, and shops—can increase residential property prices. Shop better: Unique products, personalized service, and a familiar face make holiday gift buying joyful! As both a shopper and an advocate for small businesses, I am consistently inspired by their passion, grit, and creativity. From neighborhood boutiques to local eateries, these businesses always make me smile. This November 30, Small Business Saturday, celebrate the businesses that enrich your life. Every purchase you make at a local independent business in your neighborhood is an investment in local jobs, creativity, and economic growth. Together, we can ensure that small businesses continue to be the engines of progress. Shout out to the OG SBS team and all the teams that have nurtured and grown Shop Small and every Small Business Saturday! #SmallBusinessSaturday #ShopSmall #SupportLocal #Entrepreneurship #EconomicGrowth
