This is a friendly reminder that tomorrow, December 8th, we're hosting our Holiday Toy Drive benefiting Family Service League (FSL) of Long Island. Each gift we collect represents more than just a toy – it's a moment of joy for a child whose family may be facing difficult circumstances. FSL's impact in our community is truly remarkable. In 2023 alone, they helped secure permanent housing for 141 adults and 89 families, providing stability and hope during challenging times. Their work touches over 50,000 of our vulnerable neighbors annually, from children and seniors to families working to build better lives. Can't make it in person? You can still bring joy to a child this holiday season through FSL's Amazon Wishlist. Your participation, whether in person or online, will help ensure that more children in our community experience the magic of the holiday season. Every toy makes a difference!

"Kindness has the power to transform lives, and it starts with one simple act. Today, I’m reaching out to ask for your kindness to help children who need it most. At our orphanage, we care for fifty-five incredible children, and every day brings its challenges—especially when it comes to feeding and supporting them. But with your help, we can do more than just provide for their basic needs. We can offer them hope, education, and a future full of possibilities. No act of kindness is too small. Together, we can stand as a community, united by compassion, and make a lasting impact on these children’s lives. Let’s show the world what kindness can do. 💙 #KindnessInAction #SupportTheChildren #FromStreetToHome #MakeADifference"

La Bella Baskets & Gifts Why Do We Celebrate Father’s Day? According to the History Channel, Sonora Smart Dodd, a woman from Spokane, Washington, was the founder of Father’s Day. She was one of six children raised by her widowed father. Her mother had died during the birth of her sixth child. Since Mother’s Day was established in 1908, Sonora Smart Dodd wanted to have an equivalent holiday for fathers. To promote her idea of celebrating fathers for a day, Sonora visited local churches and the YMCA and met with shopkeepers and government officials to gain support for this new tradition. Because of her hard work, Sonora found success when Washington State celebrated the first Father’s Day on June 19, 1910. Basically, children who have involved fathers are more likely to be healthy emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Even when children face crises, having an involved father helps children regulate their behavior and feelings better than children whose fathers are absent. In addition, children who have absent fathers are more likely to engage in at-risk behaviors. This is why there has been a push for male mentors in elementary schools. Father’s Day is a time for people to celebrate the men in their lives. For children, it is a day to show appreciation for their fathers and father-figures. For adults, it is a day to show much they love and appreciate the hard work of the fathers and husbands in their lives. Although many of us celebrate Father’s Day, we may not know the history behind this tradition. Surprisingly, this holiday was not completely accepted at first. But over time, people embraced the idea of the influence fathers had on their families, especially in their children’s lives. http://joycesgiftstore.com (Temporarily Closed)

Autistica, the UK’s leading autism research and campaigning charity, have declared several goals to meet by 2030, one of which is to improve the accessibility of public spaces to neurodivergent individuals. The organisation has developed a plan to achieve this, focusing on both the environments themselves and the attitudes of autistic and non-autistic people within these spaces. This is why we teamed up with Autistica to create our training for businesses on sensory-inclusive spaces. Our supermarket guide launched in late April also follows a similar motive. We hope that our work and the research and plans of Autistica will help all public spaces become more inclusive for all sensory differences. You can read more about Autistica’s ‘Inclusive Spaces Plan’ by following the link below: https://buff.ly/3WMinfG [ALT TEXT: Autistica Inclusive Spaces Plan. 🚀 **Exciting News!** 🚀 I am proud to announce the launch of Rolling With Dads, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering and celebrating fathers everywhere! When I began my fatherhood journey, I found myself in unfamiliar territory without the necessary resources, support, and community that would help me become a better father to my son. These challenges inspired the creation of Rolling With Dads. I established this nonprofit to have a significant impact on fathers so they never feel alone or unprepared to take on parenthood. Instead, they should feel empowered and capable of building strong child bonds, be exceptional caregivers, and have a community of dads to lean on when they need support the most. Created by dads, for dads, to enrich and strengthen the families in our communities. Our work aims to: -Support: Build a strong, understanding community for dads. -Educate: Provide expert-led workshops/clinics, and expert advice on parenting, health, and wellness. -Inspire: Share powerful stories from dads around the world. Visit our website, www.rollingwithdads.org to learn more about our mission and the programs we offer to support dads through their parenting journey. Join us in honoring the vital role of fathers. Your support can make a world of difference! If you'd like to partner or collaborate around any of our initiatives or events please reach out, we're actively looking for sponsors/partners that have shared brand values. #RollingWithDads #EmpowerDads #Fatherhood #Nonprofit #Community
