"Families impacted by the wrongful death of a loved one on the high seas may be eligible for various forms of financial support under the Death on the High Seas Act (DOHSA). These may include compensation for funeral expenses, lost financial support, loss of care and companionship, and more. DOHSA was created to protect the families of maritime workers who risk their lives offshore, ensuring they have the support they need in difficult times. Today is the day! Oct. 15 tax-filing extension deadline is here. However, disaster areas, combat zones and Israel granted more time. The IRS advises taxpayers to file their 2023 federal income tax returns by midnight, tonight, to avoid potential late filing penalties. Military members and disaster-area taxpayers may have additional time to file. Those with an IRS address of record in areas covered by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster declarations and those returning from a combat zone may qualify for additional time to file. Deadlines vary based on the type of disaster in a given area.

Yesterday's heart-rending news came with the added bitterness of a poignant and powerful reminder that the policy of simply stopping boats is futile and deadly... Two weeks ago, a Kuwaiti Bidoon family of six - parents and their four children (between the ages of 13 and 21) - made the same attempted crossing with equally tragic results. Their eldest is now dead, crushed to death on an overcrowded boat. This was their fifth attempt to cross; and since - notwithstanding witnessing their daughter's and sister's death - their circumstances and conditions are otherwise unchanged, they are clear that they must and will attempt a sixth. Stopping a boat or several, while doing nothing to relieve the people driven to get in it of their crushing insecurity and misery, is not saving lives. It is manifestly costing lives. As should be obvious - certainly to anyone responsible for the policy of simply stopping boats - that approach has (inevitably) increased risks by, first, increasing the number of journeys that some people make; and, second, it seems clear (considering the incidents of death by crushing), further increasing the dangers of each journey. Had Dina Al Shammari (and her family) successfully made the crossing on the first, second, third or even fourth attempt, she would be alive today. And it can only be hoped that, if her parents and three younger siblings are compelled to renew the attempt because governments on both sides of these waters refuse to provide them safety, they will more quickly succeed in that crossing and without further family tragedy. Saving lives means helping people, sharing responsibility, and ensuring safe access to asylum systems on both sides of the Channel (not simply stopping boats and thinking all responsibility for people can be left to other countries).

[ Offshore Tax ] Plan B Ensuring Asset Protection and Family Security. The most common emergencies we face are not full-scale war or complete social meltdown. Everyone, at one time or another, will have to deal with day-to-day difficulties that interrupt normal our patterns and resources. Most of such emergencies will be a temporary short-term crisis. Even nasty events such as riots, social unrest, civil strife, and militant conflict have a life cycle and do not last forever. Therefore, true preparation is about looking through the emergency to what happens afterward, not just dealing with the emergency itself. #EmergencyPreparedness #CrisisManagement #ShortTermCrisis #Resilience #DayToDayChallenges #SocialUnrest #PreparationMindset #LongTermPlanning #CommunitySafety #AftermathRecovery

Another victim of #radicalislam in Ireland, this time an 8 year old child who was trying to protect her mother from a knife yielding"foreign national of Middle Eastern origin" - and became another murder statistic. The motives of Irish authorities behind keeping all violent crime statistics, specifically the ethnicity of the perpetrators a secret and away from public view are painfully clear. With continued, uncontrolled migration into their country wreaking havoc in what used to be a unique Irish culture and heritage and exposing their citizenry to continued criminal acts performed against them by people who should not have been allowed to reside in their country in the first place - corrupt and inept Irish politicians are trying to mask the impact of their moronic policies on their own people. The public is well within its rights to know the facts. If crimes do not correlate with ethnicity or legal immigration status (as many European governments falsly claim), there is no reason to keep them a secret. And if, as the majority of #publicsafety professionals around the world believe, there is a tight correlation and the vast majority of violent crimes are indeed committed by #migrants (legal or illegal) of specific origins usually due to cultural divide, it is any government's duty to take the proper actions and protect their citizenry, which, up to this point, they're miserably failing at. Either way, it is the public's right to KNOW. Hiding the facts doesn't change them - it just makes it a lot harder to fight violent crimes. #islamists #crimes #immigration #illegalimmigration https://lnkd.in/ejWzYV6w

Scott Robinson,• 1st • Deputy Director of Government Affairs, INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE FIGHTERS As a firefighter and public sector employee, I can't help but shake my head at The Heritage Foundation's Project 2025. On page 82 of the Mandate, they suggest that congress make public-sector unions Illegal. Imagine a world where essential services, like firefighting, are driven solely by political agendas and not by the people who actually do the work. What could possibly go wrong? Clearly, the path to better governance is through more bureaucracy and less representation for those who risk their lives every day. The Idea that local governments will protect their fire fighters, and their communities is a joke. As someone on the front lines, I can tell you this: weakening public-sector unions will only undermine our ability to protect and serve our communities effectively. hashtag#Firefighter hashtag#PublicSector hashtag#Unions hashtag#STOPProject2025 hashtag#RUINEDHeritage hashtag#FaultyFoundation
