The response to my 2 previous posts about farmer suicide has been overwhelming! Thank you all for the support, shares and messages! There will be much more to come this summer about my journey from the depths of depression. I am also going to take the conversation in a few other directions and will be looking forward to the discussion that comes from each post. In case you aren't aware, I have been working to help farmers like me to heal.
I get asked a lot, "how can I help support farmers?" Obviously, shopping with them is one way and I plan to highlight some of the farms we support starting later in this post and throughout the year. If you can't buy from them, making a donation is another way. Even $25 can help! If you can't help financially, how about donating labor? After that, get creative. Show up! Take a tour, attend a field day, write a letter to the editor or blog about what a wonderful farm it is. Share your skills with the farmer; maybe they need help with a website or something that you are good at. Most farmers struggle with isolation, so just getting to tell their story to someone, especially someone that believes they are making a difference, can really help. It is hard to put into words how important it is for them to feel validated for all the sacrifice they have made.
I am get asked a lot by people looking for specific products so, as mentioned above, I am going to highlight here and in coming post, some of the farms that we support. Today's featured farm is #guardiangrains and farmHer DeAnna Lozensky. DeAnna sells heirloom flour and whole grain raised on their beautiful farm in North Dakota. They ship all over the country and even have an awesome Facebook page that allows you to follow along on their journey and even get new recipes! Check her out here. https://lnkd.in/gQVxkAaG

2moWow, this is incredibly generous and thank you Lakeview Farms team for your consistent corporate spirit of giving back. Big shoutout to Will! I can honestly say I've never seen anyone eat 6 Habaneros in a row and especially with such a positive attitude about it LOL.
