Why Investing in Apprenticeships Strengthens YOUR Workforce! I've been out and about the last few weeks and nearly all of the companies I speak to have an ageing, knowledgeable workforce. So they need to pass that knowledge and experience on before they leave. Hiring apprentices isn’t just about giving young people a chance—it’s a smart business strategy. Companies that invest in apprenticeships can develop a workforce tailored to their specific needs, ensuring that talent grows from within. With a dedicated support system from The Growth Company: Education & Skills , we help employers in Manchester and the surrounding areas find the right apprentices to meet their business goals. Ready to strengthen your team and pass that knowledge on? Then let’s talk about how apprenticeships can benefit your company. #apprenticeships #manchesterbusiness #Engineering #manufacturing

Mistakes I made when applying to apprenticeships so you don’t have to… 🌟 Not Preparing Enough for Psychometric Tests I underestimated how challenging these tests can be! I realised that just a little prep time could make a big difference in performance and reduce stress. 🌟 Putting All My Eggs in One Basket Early on, I focused all my energy on one “dream” opportunity and when that didn’t go to plan it felt overwhelming but applying to multiple apprenticeships increases your chances and keeps you open minded. Also, you may surprise yourself as you come across more companies that align with your values. 🌟 Underestimating the Competitiveness Thinking it would be “easier” than university admissions was a mistake! Apprenticeships attract a lot of talented candidates, so it’s important to treat each application like it’s the only one. 🌟 Not Being Commercially Aware from the Start Researching the company and industry trends early on shows initiative, can make your application stand out and build your confidence in speaking about commercial matters. Mistakes are all part of the process, but each one taught me something valuable. If you’re applying for apprenticeships, take the time to learn from my experience, and feel free to ask for advice along the way. 🌟-Transparency Tuesday #student #apprenticeships #applications #apprentice

Are apprenticeships as valued as University? In my opinion no. Should they be yes. Historically, University is seen as the ‘correct’ pathway for people to go down after they’ve finished their A-Level / college qualifications. Sometimes that is correct, but we need to normalise that in just as many situations as it’s correct, are also situations where it’s incorrect. In my opinion, it’s all down to the individual. Looking at me and my brother. He went to University and I’m doing a Degree Apprenticeship. Both paths were completely correct for us as individuals. University offers a great opportunity of independence and lots of time for focus on the chosen degree. Apprenticeships open up your career path earlier then uni does but is intense as you’re doing a full time role whilst a full time degree. Let’s normalise appreciating both paths and not judging one as being better. #apprenticeshipvsuniversity #degreeapprenticeship #apprenticeship #university #post18pathway

University or Apprenticeship? 💭📚 I've seen a number of posts in recent weeks about which option is the best route to take for somebody finishing their A-Levels. A lot of people in my network would argue apprenticeships are the gold standard when it comes to planning the next steps after college, and I would agree, to a certain extent. As a university graduate who now works in the world of apprenticeships, I can confidently say that each pathway offers unique advantages, tailored to individual aspirations and learning styles 🌟 University education provides a comprehensive academic framework, nurtures critical thinking and helps develop research skills and theoretical knowledge 💡 Conversely, apprenticeships offer hands-on, practical learning experiences directly within the workplace. They provide invaluable exposure to real-world challenges, allowing individuals to develop industry-specific skills under the provision of those with bags of experience 💼 In short, both avenues have their pros and cons, and the decision ultimately hinges on personal preferences and career goals 🎓👔 If your dream career doesn't require a degree, my advice would be to have a look at the qualifications that are available alongside a job in your chosen field. I'd definitely give some more thought to the pathways available outside of university if I had my time again 💪 #UniversityVsApprenticeships #CareerPathways #Education #Apprenticeships
