This Thanksgiving, Americans are set to travel in record numbers and enjoy slightly cheaper festive dinners, thanks to lower fuel and food costs easing inflationary pressures. Nearly 80 million people will travel at least 50 miles, with airlines expecting their busiest holiday period yet. Falling crude prices have reduced petrol costs, averaging just over $3 per gallon, the lowest since 2020. Meanwhile, the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner has dropped 5% from last year, though still higher than pre-pandemic levels. Economic concerns persist, with many families scaling back celebrations, and shoppers hoping for further price reductions under Trump’s presidency. Retailers like Walmart and Target are responding by offering budget-friendly meal bundles. Despite easing inflation, consumer sentiment remains cautious, with full recovery expected to take more time. Gratitude and Reflection This Thanksgiving 🍁🦃✨ As we gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving, it’s a time to express gratitude for the blessings in our lives. However, it’s also a time to reflect on the history behind this holiday—a history that is complex and, for many, painful. Thanksgiving is often associated with ideals of unity and shared prosperity, but its origins are deeply tied to the history of Indigenous peoples in the United States. The arrival of European settlers brought immense suffering to Native communities, including displacement, loss of culture, and violence. This Thanksgiving let’s take a moment to honor and recognize the resilience and contributions of Indigenous peoples, whose histories and cultures are foundational to this land. 🌎🌿 Here are a few meaningful ways to engage in this reflection: ✨ Educate ourselves about the history of the Native peoples whose land we inhabit. 🛍️ Support Indigenous-owned businesses, artists, and organizations. 📣 Amplify Indigenous voices and advocate for policies that protect their rights and sovereignty. Thanksgiving is an opportunity not just to celebrate but to learn, acknowledge, and act. By doing so, we create a more inclusive and thoughtful tradition—one that embraces truth and respect. Wishing everyone a Thanksgiving filled with gratitude, growth, and meaningful connection. 🍂💛

In a few days, loved ones of all ages will gather to be grateful! As you prepare for your Thanksgiving celebration, consider these ideas to get the different generations in your family connecting: 1. Merge the kids’ and adults’ tables. Don’t segment seating by age, instead mix generations and see what happens. Whether a grandparent shares a pearl of wisdom or a teen captures the meal on SnapChat, everyone can learn from each other! 2. Ask questions and share stories. Research shows that stories sync the brains of the storyteller and the listener. What a great way to transfer knowledge, wisdom, and legacy with those you love! Here are some conversation sparkers: · What was Thanksgiving like when you were growing up? · What is your favorite holiday memory or tradition? · Who or what are you thankful for in your life now? · Here is a special story about our family… · The quality I most appreciate about you is… 3. Do an activity together. Whether taking a walk, playing a game, or cooking together- sharing experiences creates connections and memories that can last a lifetime. Our hope is that this Thanksgiving you and yours will gain perspective of the past and the present… and strengthen generational connections for years to come. Happy Thanksgiving! We are grateful for you, Dr. K + J

A Thanksgiving Reflection As we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, let us pause and reflect on the countless blessings that surround us. This day reminds us not only of the harvest of food but also of the harvest of love, kindness, and connection that enrich our lives. Gratitude is a powerful force, one that can transform challenges into lessons, strangers into friends, and simple moments into cherished memories. Today, let’s celebrate the beauty of coming together - family, friends, and communities - sharing stories, laughter, and a meal that nourishes both body and soul. Let’s also take a moment to extend our gratitude beyond the table: 1. To those who support us in ways big and small. 2. To the hands that prepared our feast and the hearts that welcome us. 3. To the earth that provides and the opportunities that keep us growing. Thanksgiving isn’t just a day; it’s a reminder to live with gratitude every day. So, as we enjoy this moment, let us pledge to carry forward this spirit of appreciation, kindness, and generosity into the days ahead.
