Explaining My Passion for Love Land: Empowering Youth and Supporting Adults in Sexuality Education 🌱🤝❤️ 🌟 I am often asked about the source of my passion for Love Land, a pioneering initiative aimed at empowering young individuals through comprehensive sexual health education. Perhaps it's the complexity of the challenge that inspires me: Our mission extends beyond simply engaging the youth. We recognize the critical support of adults in this educational journey. 💡 Bridging the Gap: Overcoming Stigma in Sexuality Education for Adults Sexual health is a critical aspect of overall well-being, yet it often carries a veil of stigma and misunderstanding. Many adults, including parents, teachers and youth workers, due to their own sexual biographies, might find themselves unprepared to guide young people in these matters. This lack of knowledge isn't a failing - it's a gap that Love Land aims to bridge. 💡 Inclusive Education: Empowering Open Conversations on Sexual Health By incorporating adults into our programs, we respect and acknowledge their experiences and limitations. We believe that education should include an environment where open, honest discussions about sexual health can flourish. This approach not only empowers the youth but also enriches the adults understanding, enabling them to become confident and informed guides for young people. 💡 Check out our Train-the-Trainer program Our vision for Love Land is to create a safe, inclusive space where sexuality education respects everyone's journey and promotes a healthier, more informed future for all. Join us as we expand the boundaries of traditional education and build a community where every voice is heard, and every question is valued. We have therefore developed a Train-the-Trainer program to support adults in sexuality education. 👋🏼 Find the flyer here: #sexualityeducation #sexualhealth #loveland #taboobreaker #breakthestigma

A Perspective from ZAMI NOBLA's Creative Director, Angela Denise Davis. I find it interesting how so many people don’t know that the term “spiritually blind“ is ableist. I am even more disheartened when I hear clergy use that phrase. This rant was prompted from seeing a post made by a local minister who wrote, “Stop asking blind people to proofread your vision.“ During the first few months of my vision loss, I was sitting in a church where a minister preached about God not being “blind.” As a newly blind person, I felt stabbed by his words. I will never forget that. I try to think about how my words may land on the ear of the reader or listener. When I heard those words preached that Sunday, I felt as if I wasn’t considered in that sermon preparation. That sermon wasn’t for me. One may think all of this is my being too sensitive. If so, I would challenge one to think about one’s privilege or location in the world. We all have just got to do better. #zaminobla #ZAMINOBLA #angeladenisedavis #ableistlanguage #ableist #privilege #blind #lowvision #blindcommunity #lowvisionawareness #disability #disabilityawareness #disabilityrights #disabilityjustice #intersectionaltraining #livedexperience #livedexperiencematters #awareness

Raising a gentleman or a young gentleman involves instilling qualities of respect, kindness, empathy, and integrity. It's about teaching the young individual to be courteous, considerate, and understanding towards others. This includes promoting good manners, proper etiquette, and a strong sense of responsibility and accountability for their actions. Raising a gentleman also involves nurturing a mindset that values equality, inclusivity, and the empowerment of others. Ultimately, the goal is to guide the young person to become a positive, respectful, and contributing member of society, embodying the qualities of a true gentleman. #refinement #raisingboys #raisinggentlemen #etiquetteandmanners #mindyourmanners #etiquettecoach #justforboys

A simpler set of comments from me on this repost than my convoluted one yesterday: • Frank Hester’s comments were worse than “disgraceful” or “bad”. They were evil, and the repercussions and wider responses must go beyond delayed and insufficient speech acts. • White colleagues were insufficiently supportive of our Black and Black female colleagues yesterday on a day of particular violence and pain. We must, collectively, do better. • This was a workplace incident, with political ramifications. Both workplace incidents *and* politics are subjects that must, to varying degrees, be actively discussed on this professional network, however awkward some might find that. • We must get more good people, of all backgrounds, into our parliaments. Please call out Hester’s behaviour, and the insufficient responses to it. Do this even (or perhaps even especially) if you think it is so obviously wrong as not to require any comment. Otherwise, those most affected are implicitly gaslit, and further attacked by an oppressive wall of silence.

🗣️”…” 💬 Can a mere apology ever erase the pain of feeling diminished, disrespected, frightened, and humiliated? For every woman who has had her voice silenced for speaking her truth, stripped of her dignity because she chose to not be silent, terrorised for daring to exist, We make no apology for who we are; we will be seen and heard, and our demands for racial and economic justice and equity remain as urgent as ever. Our words and actions have the power to uplift or diminish others; we should all be using our words and actions for the betterment of a kinder, more just world where everyone is valued, treated equally, respected, and empowered. So let us go forward with love in our hearts and compassion in our actions to build a world where kindness prevails, empathy guides our decisions, and understanding bridges our differences. #equity #justice #empowerment #compassionateleadership #unity #love
