Digital Accessibility & Section 508 Trainer, Advisor, Consultant, Mentor and Judge

#MondayMorningMotivation Do you know Priya and Mahi are the foster daughters of Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud? Not only that, Priya and Mahi are diagnosed with nemaline myopathy, a rare muscular disorder that affects muscle function. Due to this, both of Justice DY Chandrachud’s daughters are wheelchair users. It’s heartwarming to see such dedication and love from the CJI towards his daughters. He brought them to the Supreme Court to show them where he works and how the judicial system operates. When he brought his two daughters in wheelchairs to the Supreme Court, he discovered two steps that restricted their entry. He then asked the officials to audit the Supreme Court for accessibility and is working to ensure that courts in India are disability-friendly. While speaking at the Inclusion and Accessibility Summit on Saturday, he explained how much he respects persons with disabilities and their needs. I was amazed when he discussed accessibility standards and specific requirements of digital accessibility. It was a surprise to hear a judge talk about text resize, color contrast, high contrast, keyboard accessibility, and screen reader implementations. Justice D Y Chandrachud sir, I can’t thank you enough for your dedication towards disability and accessibility. It was my privilege to listen to you from the audience last Saturday. #a11y #digitalaccessibility #accessibility #disability #justice #SupremeCourt #PWD #RPDAct2016
