There is no health without #MentalHealth💚 In 2025, let's make sure mental health is given the same priority as physical health by standing up against stigma and ensuring more people can access the support they need. #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwareness

Thank you, World Health Organization, for highlighting such an important message! Mental health truly deserves the same attention as physical health. We strongly agree and are inspired to share this with our community....... Let's break the stigma and create a world where mental health support is accessible for everyone. #MentalHealthMatters

This is a crucial step in healthcare! It’s encouraging to see a more holistic approach, with mental health now recognized as a key component. Beyond addressing mental health conditions themselves, integrating mental health initiatives can help prevent numerous diseases and improve treatment outcomes. In the cardiovascular space, this focus seems particularly promising; recent data by the American Heart Association shows that mental health treatment can reduce rehospitalization rates and emergency department visits by over 70%. This is just the beginning, as evidence continues to grow across various diseases and healthcare settings.

Mental health is the second of the #sevenpillarsofselfcare. Absolutely true that physical health without mental health isn’t full health.

Let’s start by making sure New Zealand’s draft mental health legislation meets World Health Organization and OHCHR guidelines. See below my submission on the draft legislation, comparing it to the guidelines. There’s a long way to go. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ge06ylwzui40ibgh26tgr/Submission-on-the-Mental-Health-Bill-2024-Leo-McIntyre.pdf?rlkey=nwx715pjnxdm07heb37y0nzsy&st=9thwz8c3&dl=0

Thank you for sharing.

There's no mental health without regular sex, physical activity, somatic health, wealth, money, independence in making life choices (sexual orientation, partner(s), engagement, job position, freedom in movement, country of residency, living, working etc) and enjoying indulgements/treats, hobbies....

A very important issue that has been receiving stepmotherly treatment by the national governments. Even the pandemic phase couldn't wake them up from their slumber. More mental healthcare units, professionals, dedicated academic institutions on the lines of Medical colleges, job opportunities for those qualified in this particular field absolutely necessary . The present global geopolitical situation , climate change, unemployment, migration, violence etc are resulting in determination of the mental health of the youth , women and children. Physical and mental health are interwined ..ignoring mental health adversely affects physical health.

Agree ; As per the World Health Organisation (WHO),‘Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.’ (WHO, 1948). Health =Physical health+Psychological health+Emotional health+Social health+Spiritual health.
