Charities helping charities! We love collaborating and working in partnership with the local community. Things we receive through supermarket donations that we can't make use of, like certain toiletries, baby food, or pet food, we ensure they are used elsewhere through partnerships with other local charities and food banks. Keeping these connections alive is vital to us all being successful and being able to continue to help who we do. Last week we were able to swap some toiletries for a couple of sacks of potatoes....! The Food banks can't use perishable items as easily as we can due to storage and perishability limitations, but we can definitely ensure they are used in our busy hostel kitchen! This week we also met Jazz from Kiran Support Services at a partnership meeting, and she told us about Period poverty which is a global issue! This affects women who don't have access to the safe, hygienic menstrual products they need, and/or who are unable to manage their periods with dignity, sometimes due to community stigma and sanction. We often get an influx of sanitary pads and tampons; it all really depends on who is donating, but where we can, Cathy does try and give to organisations that most need it. Kiran is now another one on our list of contacts. Thank you to all our local partners - and the amazing people who are the steel holding these bonds together! (Our Cathy is one of those amazing people!) These potatoes have gone so far in dinners this week! We also hate waste, so it's a win win. 🙌 Thank you to all of our supporters, partners, and volunteers far and wide - we couldn't do what we do without you ❤️ #enablingindependence #charity #walthamstowcharity #localcharity #charitieshelpingcharities #potatoes #swaps #foodbanks #kiransupportservices #dv #periodpoverty #poverty #stigma #partnershipworking #teamwork #sharingresources #helpingsupportothers #tampons #sanitarypads

Bag-a-Thon is helping feed hungry families! According to Feeding America, 47 million Americans face food insecurity — including more than 14 million children. Hunger can be present even in prosperous communities. * We at Edward Jones are working to make a positive impact in our community with the Edward Jones Bag-a-Thon community food drive to support families at our local chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities. A few canned soups, some hearty beans, a healthy box of cereal or canned veggies can help children and families have access to nutritious meals. Consider stopping by with any amount of non-perishable food between October 7th and November 7th and we’ll take care of the rest in cooperation with Ronald McDonald House Charities. Click to learn how you can help and what’s needed most: https://bit.ly/3AtIEqE Contributing to a cause and participating in or volunteering for a charity or charitable event is a personal decision and completely voluntary. The Impact of a $1 Donation: Providing Hot Meals to Those in Need In a world where small acts of kindness can make a big difference, a single dollar can go a long way. At the Feed in Need Foundation, we believe in the power of every contribution, no matter how small. Just $1 can help provide a hot, nutritious meal delivered to those in the most difficult-to-reach places. For many people living in poverty, access to a warm meal is a daily struggle. With your $1 donation, we can prepare and deliver hot meals to those who need it most. Our dedicated team, in partnership with food organizations, works tirelessly to reach remote and underserved areas, aiming that no one is left hungry. How Your $1 Donation Makes a Difference 1. Nutritious Ingredients: Your donation helps us purchase fresh ingredients needed to prepare a wholesome meal. Every meal is crafted to provide the essential nutrients required for a healthy diet. 2. Meal Preparation: With the help of volunteers and community partners, we cook these meals in hygienic conditions, ensuring they are both delicious and safe to eat. 3. Transportation: Reaching remote and difficult-to-access areas requires reliable transportation. Your $1 helps cover the costs of fuel and logistics, allowing us to deliver meals to those who cannot come to us. And we make sure they receive warm and fresh. 4. Community Impact: By providing hot meals, we not only address immediate hunger but also bring hope and comfort to those in need. A warm meal can uplift spirits, foster a sense of community, and show that someone cares. Why It Matters Every dollar counts in the fight against hunger. For the cost of a cup of coffee, you can make a tangible difference in someone’s life. Your $1 donation can be the reason a child goes to bed with a full stomach or an elderly person feels cared for and remembered. Join Us in Making a Difference We invite you to join us in our mission to feed those in need. Your support, no matter the amount, can help us continue our work and reach even more people. Together, we can ensure that everyone has access to a hot meal, no matter where they are. #FeedInNeed #FightHunger #OneDollarOneMeal #CommunitySupport #Charity #GivingBack #SocialImpact #NoOneGoesHungry #MakeADifference

This #HungerActionMonth, Dairy West is excited to announce our collaboration with Tackle Hunger to combat food insecurity across the nation. During this crucial month and throughout the year, we are committed to ensuring that essential dairy foods are within everyone’s reach. Milk, cheese and yogurt, while highly demanded, are seldom donated to food charities because they need refrigeration. Through our partnership with Tackle Hunger and their innovative donation map, you can help change this by making monetary donations directly to local food charities. These contributions will provide nutrient-rich dairy to those in dire need. This initiative spans 21 states, where regional dairy councils work tirelessly to ensure that donations reach our communities effectively. This effort not only feeds but also nourishes, supporting everything from children’s growth to adults' health. Jaclyn St. John MS, RDN, LD from Dairy West underscores the urgency: “With 13 million children facing food insecurity in our nation, our partnership with Tackle Hunger is crucial. By donating through the Tackle Hunger Map, you support our local food banks in providing dairy essentials to families in need.” 🔗 Join us in making a difference. Visit the map.tacklehunger.org to support your local food charity and help us make dairy accessible to all. Your involvement can lead to a healthier, more equitable community. #TackleHunger #DairyNourishes #FeedTheChange #AgNews #StrongerInNumbers

🥕🍞 September is Hunger Action Month! 🍞🥕 In the United States, more than 35,000 nonprofit organizations focus on food-related issues. We are honored to work with just a few of those nonprofits who are addressing a wide range of challenges such as: ✔distributing meals to those in need ✔advocating for systemic food policy changes ✔promoting sustainable agriculture, and ✔increasing access to nutritious, affordable groceries in food deserts Some food for thought for fundraising in grassroots food organizations: 🥑 Build upon your in-kind donations - celebrate the donations of food and other non-monetary items you receive; list them in your grant budgets and talk about them in your conversations with donors. 🥞 Tell an asset-based story - focus on the strengths and aspirations of the community you serve, and tell a story of hope and possibility. 🥙 Highlight your extensive partnerships - food-based organizations are often so good at collaborating. Talk about the ways you work with providers focused on housing, health, education, and more – and highlight the collective impact of these partnerships. #Fundraising #HungerActionMonth #FoodJustice #CollectiveImpact
