028 Know Me, Be Me, Stay Me – The Power of Authenticity One of my all-time favorite podcast episodes: Gilbert Enoka in conversation with John Kirwan. This one is packed with insights, diving into Gilbert’s upbringing, his role in shifting the All Blacks’ leadership culture, and the importance of mental well-being. There are so many lessons from this that hit home, especially when thinking about applying them in the workplace. Here are a few takeaways that stood out to me of many: • Being connected is not the same as feeling connected. • Values can feel abstract; set standards that people can live by. • Leadership can be horizontal, not just vertical. • Our impatience to win is often why we lose. • Information alone doesn’t lead to transformation. • Practice kindness. • Genuine care isn’t a skill; it’s a mindset. If you get a chance, give it a listen and walk away with some Enoka wisdom. I’ll definitely be revisiting it again myself!

What is Personal Agility? My answer: The ability to easily + consciously respond to change in a direction of intention 🤘🏼 I sat down with Nell Fitzjohn a while back + had a chat about this concept (+ a few other tangents!) I love Nell’s ability to go on an exploratory conversation + dive into topics around real things for real humans, at work. Love the work you do Nell + I’m cracking up as I listen back to this podcast. Here’s to keeping work human, advocating for people + cheering each other on along the way. Would love to know what you think of the conversation 🎙️ #humansatwork #changeiscool #cheerpod

🌟 Walking Wisdom Wednesday 🌟 This week, I stumbled upon the "Now What" podcast with Brooke Shields featuring the always-inspiring Cheryl Strayed. Listening felt like being right there in the room, part of a rich, honest conversation—but in listen-only mode. Cheryl's journey has been a source of inspiration for me since her book Wild came out over a decade ago, and this episode was no different. Here are my Top 5 Takeaways that left me reflecting: Embrace the Power of Vulnerability: Cheryl's journey shows that opening up about our struggles, rather than hiding them, allows us to connect with others on a deeper level and fosters true healing. Growth Through Uncertainty: Sometimes, the best path forward isn’t clear until you take the first step. Cheryl emphasized that moving forward, even imperfectly, is better than standing still in fear. Reframe Your Story: We are not defined by our past but by the meaning we give to our experiences. Cheryl's ability to transform her pain into wisdom serves as a testament to the power of perspective. The Importance of Radical Self-Compassion: Life’s challenges can leave us feeling unworthy or lost. Cheryl’s message? Extend yourself the same kindness you would to a dear friend; it’s essential for true self-discovery. Find Meaning in the Messy Moments: This one hit home for me. It reminded me of something my Uncle Ed always said: “Within each adversity lies the seed of equivalent good.” Cheryl’s reflections are a powerful reminder that in those messy, challenging chapters, we often find our greatest growth. This week's insights thanks to author Derek Sivers chat on Chris Willamson's podcast: Modern Wisdom. Is it true or is it useful? Consider true being something that whether you take an octopus or an alien or take anyone from anywhere around the world and they all easily come to the same conclusion. Reframing your wins: at the Olympics the best person to be is either the gold or bronze medal winner. Gold - WOOO HOOO I DID IT!! Silver - If only X then I could have won, I nearly had it... Bronze - WOOO HOOO OMG I MADE IT ONTO THE PODIUM! I nearly didn't but wow, look at what I did! Recognize your actions over your feelings - You can feel anxious, but if you still did the thing, acknowledge that you did the thing and celebrate it. You are what you do, that's what people see, they don't see how you're feeling, they see your actions. Value is always based on output and not effort or time: There's no benefit in complaining or pointing out how long or how much effort something took, people value the end product, not the process. If you had someone with low experience, take 6 weeks to complete a job and it, you're happy with the result vs a 20-year veteran smash out the same job in a day, who are you paying more and what do you value most? I hope it's time. But that 20-year vet had to start somewhere to get to where they are, the value is still the output and not the time or effort. Check out the episode here: https://lnkd.in/gUdg-42w

“Find the discipline to go back to the basic and actually start fresh, which resulted in a phenomal quarter” Today I had the opportunity to join Jamie Burrows in an incredible training session. Polishing up my management and leadership skills. But what I also took away was resources. Starting off with Lysha Holmes podcast. Personally I’ve had a few ups and downs personally and professionally. As an individual who always wants more, this podcast has helped me find that discipline again. So don’t be afraid to go back to basics as the consistency grind will always show results. #rec2rec #motivation#recruitment#podcast#support#discipline
