This Wednesday, several of our Kins PTs from New York gathered for a fantastic evening of connection and celebration. From some friendly competition at the pool tables to meaningful conversations over drinks, the night was all about building community, fostering our unique culture, and strengthening the bonds within our team. At Kins, we’re more than just physical therapists—we’re a family. Events like these remind us of the power of coming together, sharing experiences, and supporting one another as we grow both personally and professionally. 💪 #KinsCommunity #PTLife #CultureOfCare #TeamBuilding #PhysicalTherapists

Creating a workplace that genuinely values and supports family caregivers starts with transparency. 🤝 By openly communicating about our caregiving roles at work, we can develop understanding and nurture a culture where support flourishes. 🗓️ Clarity in Calendars: Instead of vague 'busy' blocks, share why you're leaving early or absent. 💬 Open Dialogue: Foster open conversations about personal obligations. When you're open, it empowers others to do the same, encouraging an environment of empathy and understanding. 🔄 Flexible Communication: Inform your team of your preferred contact method during personal commitments to ensure smooth collaboration. 🤝 Building a Support Network: Encourage teammates to share their caregiving duties, fostering a community that empathizes and supports one another.

Today, a colleague reached out, expressing frustration about challenges in balancing her caseload and meeting the expectations of some families. She shared that frequent cancellations, requests for specific days and times without flexibility, and a lack of follow-through on carryover activities have been making it difficult for her to support her families effectively while also maintaining her livelihood. This conversation raised important questions for me: ➡️ Where does the therapist’s responsibility end, and the parent’s accountability begin? ➡️ How can we shift the mindset from “fix my child” to a collaborative partnership where families actively engage in implementing strategies learned in therapy? ➡️ To what extent should therapists be expected to accommodate family schedules, vacations, and other preferences at the cost of their own well-being and caseload balance? As professionals, we strive to provide the best care possible and support families in helping their children thrive. However, therapy is most successful when it’s a partnership. Families must also be committed to the process, consistent with appointments, and engaged in reinforcing strategies at home. It’s a team effort, and I believe that mutual respect, understanding, and accountability are key to making a meaningful impact. Therapists and families—what are your thoughts on achieving this balance? How do you navigate these challenges? #EarlyIntervention #ParentPartnership #TherapyMatters #ProfessionalBalance
