Adjusters** As Hurricane Helene tore through Florida, making landfall as a Category 4, it left behind more than just destruction—it affected the lives of people in some of the most vulnerable and underserved communities. While the physical damage is clear, the emotional and financial toll on these families is equally devastating. As a claims adjuster, it’s a responsibility I take seriously. It’s in moments like these that we must approach each claim with empathy, care, and precision. The process isn’t just about assessing damage; it’s about ensuring that people get the support they need to rebuild their homes and lives. In such a poor area, the impact is felt even deeper, and that’s why we must be both meticulous and compassionate. We have the power to help people move forward, but it requires responsibility, integrity, and the patience to handle each case with the utmost care. Now, more than ever, we need to be advocates for those who’ve lost so much, and we must do everything in our power to ensure they receive the help they deserve. Let’s remain steadfast and committed to our duty, knowing that our work can provide a glimmer of hope in the darkest of times.

Just business as usual…
Just as another hurricane hit Florida, the child of a central Florida woman is litigating a claim from a previous storm – Hurricane Ian in 2022. This time, though, the plaintiff claims not only breach of contract by a Florida property insurance company, but that the insurer’s lack of repairs to the home caused the death of a 58-year-old policyholder. https://lnkd.in/gbCdFFXj

This morning, many of us woke up and checked on our families, friends and loved ones impacted by Hurricane Milton. Many of us also woke up to an emergency rule issued by Jimmy Patronis regarding enhanced transparency for all claims professionals as we begin to serve Floridians in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton. When I read the rule, I couldn’t help but understand the spirit of this ruling, which is to remind every claims professionals of our “why”. Why do we do this? Our “why” is service. To serve all who are impacted by this devastating event. A key component of service is trust. We must build trust with our customers, from FNOL to settlement, and every step in between. Trust is not something that is given. Trust is earned. Trust is built one step at a time. From first contact. To investigation. To settlement. We build trust through transparency in what we do. We build trust by taking accountability for our work. We build trust by guiding our policyholders through the claims process. And we build trust through empathy, care and compassion. As well all begin the recovery process, remember the “why” Be the silver lining.

Having second thoughts? After a hurricane, you can cancel contracts regarding your claims. 🚫📑 Property owners have the right to rescind a contract with a public adjuster within 30 days from the date of the losses they experienced with Hurricane Milton. When it comes to dealing with roofing companies, cancellation must be within 10 days of the contract’s execution. ✍️ At Boyd Insurance & Investments, we’re here to help you get back on your feet - https://lnkd.in/e564GQp3.
