How BWRT (BrainWorking Recursive Therapy) Can Help Rewire Thoughts and Emotional Responses: BWRT works by addressing the brain's response to triggers before it reaches conscious thought, helping to "recode" automatic responses to stressful events. Process-Based Therapy: BWRT allows individuals to tackle depression without needing to discuss the triggering event in depth, making it effective for trauma-related depression. Effective for Reactive Depression: BWRT helps patients break out of depressive cycles by targeting and restructuring the patterns that reinforce negative emotions. Evidence suggests that up to 60% of patients taking antidepressants for major depressive disorder experience emotional blunting (the inability to feel emotions). Recent data from a multi-country survey points to a disconnect between patients’ and physicians’ perceptions on the prevalence, severity and impact of emotional blunting on people with major depression. Greater awareness of emotional blunting and its impact could help guide treatment pathways that help patients achieve full functional recovery.
