Love seeing the marriage between new tech and legacy businesses. Toys"R"Us rolling out a 1-min video using OpenAI's Sora platform showing a young Charles Lazarus, the founder of Toys“R”Us, and envisioning his dreams for our iconic brand and beloved mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe in the early 1930s. Brilliant. The big question now, does it translate into revenue and/or just good external and internal PR. Regardless of the specific results the fact that Toys R Us is thinking about, playing with and releasing works using GenAI is a testimant to the leaders there. Think ahead. Tinker with the Future. Adapt to the learnings. Stay Relevant. #ai #aivideo #retail #sora #genai https://lnkd.in/g_F7c3Kx

Would you care if someone deepfaked you into a silly video? Should you care? That’s the question I’ve been asking myself since OpenAI has announced that its video generator Sora is launching to the public today. Sora appears to be a lovingly developed product, with a richer and more capable UX than anything we’ve seen launched out of OpenAI thus far. Sora is poised to make video generation a mainstream activity. And a select few pilot users participating in this launch will even be able to generate videos of people. The company is framing human generation as an experiment, and it will include all sorts of controls (and moderation) as they test it out. No nudity, violence, political figures, etc. But as of now, your average person cannot opt out of being deepfaked. For artists, I respect the boundless flexibility. For the mass public, I have more than my fair share of trepidation. Read all about OpenAI’s approach to Sora in my latest story, with a special thanks to OpenAI's Rohan Sahai and Souki Mansoor for the chat https://lnkd.in/gdCnuhTB

Had a few moments yesterday to play with OpenAI’s #Sora… wow! It quickly made it obvious to me that Sora is redefining creativity as a real time act. The point here is not about making videos faster… it is literally collapsing the distance between an idea and its execution. This kind of speed unlocks a new way of thinking, where experimentation isn’t a step in the process but the process itself. It’s a new world where creators don’t wait for inspiration, they chase it, shape it, and share it at the pace of culture. Creativity at speed (what we get paid to do) doesn’t just move ideas faster… it sharpens our vision, elevates the outcome, and turns ideas into impact before they fade.

OpenAI's Sora Text-to-Video Generator Will Be Publicly Available Later This Year: You'll soon get to try out OpenAI's buzzy text-to-video generator for yourself. From a report: In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, OpenAI chief technology officer Mira Murati says Sora will be available "this year" and that it "could be a few months." OpenAI first showed off Sora, which is capable of generating hyperrealistic scenes based on a text prompt, in February. The company only made the tool available for visual artists, designers, and filmmakers to start, but that didn't stop some Sora-generated videos from making their way onto platforms like X. In addition to making the tool available to the public, Murati says OpenAI has plans to "eventually" incorporate audio, which has the potential to make the scenes even more realistic. The company also wants to allow users to edit the content in the videos Sora produces, as AI tools don't always create accurate images. "We're trying to figure out how to use this technology as a tool that people can edit and create with," Murati tells the Journal. When pressed on what data OpenAI used to train Sora, Murati didn't get too specific and seemed to dodge the question. Read more of this story at Slashdot.

Google announced ''Veo'' - a competitor to OpenAI's ''Sora''. All clips in this video are 100% AI-Generated! Veo generates high-quality, 1080p resolution videos that can go beyond a minute, in a wide range of cinematic and visual styles. The model is also able to make video clips and extend them to 60 seconds and beyond. It aims to make video production accessible to everyone, from seasoned filmmakers to educators, unlocking new storytelling possibilities. Veo's capabilities will be integrated into YouTube Shorts and other Google products in the future. Do you think OpenAI and Google will ever join forces, or will this battle continue?

The very first video commercial made in OpenAI’s still-to-be-publicly-release AI video generator, Sora, has just been released. And, to the surprise of many, the honours go to the resurrected toy retailer, Toys"R"Us. In fact, if nothing else, the Sora-generated video might help to spread the word that Toys ‘R’ Us is still alive and kicking, albeit mainly in selected Macy's stores. The video tells the story of the founder of Toys ‘R’ Us and was made in collaboration with creative agency and production house, Native Foreign. And, whilst it’s fair to say it’s had mixed reviews, it does showcase the start of the art of the possible, as well as the challenges, of using technology to create one-minute-long videos generated from text instructions. More than that, it has reignited the debate over the value of a strong creative idea, irrespective of all the whistles and bells that can easily be attached to a creative execution. “Hugely” appears to be the answer judging by many of the less than fulsome responses on X/Twitter to the video. Take a look. What do you think of the video? #Sora #Video #ContentCreation #AIvideo #Marketing

Artists testing OpenAI's Sora, a text-to-video AI tool, have leaked the model in protest, accusing the company of exploiting unpaid labor during its "red teaming" phase. They argue that the early access program prioritizes public relations over genuine creative collaboration. In response, OpenAI has temporarily halted early access, emphasizing that participation was voluntary and aimed at balancing creativity with safety measures. #genai #responsibleai #curiousjo https://lnkd.in/gTMcWAcE
