Many of you will be familiar with the merger last December between Slow and Krakakoa, an Indonesian chocolate company well-known for its commitment to empowering cocoa farmers and promoting sustainable economic growth. But, there's more to the story than the merger itself. For the past 11 years, Sabrina Mustopo, now the COO of Slow, has overseen Krakakoa's journey. As she highlighted in her recent The Jakarta Post interview, "She Means Business: How Indonesian Women Entrepreneurs Rise Above the Challenges," navigating a global pandemic and building a business from the ground up – from training farmers to processing beans and getting the final product on store shelves – wasn't always easy. These challenges, as Sabrina emphasizes, are common for many entrepreneurs, regardless of field. Sabrina's unwavering persistence and the unwavering support of her family were key. She believes that celebrating the sacrifices and resilience of female entrepreneurs, rather than solely focusing on the hurdles they face, would be a positive step forward. Following the merger with Slow, Sabrina, now Slow's COO, continues to champion sustainable practices and empower Southeast Asian smallholder farmers as part of our team. Her dedication significantly contributes to a brighter future for both the coffee and chocolate industries. Read the PDF to explore her inspiring journey. #WomenInBusiness #Entrepreneurship #SustainableFarming #Empowerment #Innovation #FemaleFounders #Inspiration #Slow

"In a world often measured by personal gain, I believe true success lies in helping others stand on their own feet without expecting anything in return. That is the essence of my journey—Productive Empathy. I started with one simple belief: everyone deserves a chance to change their lives. But I realized that temporary assistance is not enough. I wanted to provide something more—tools for independence, the courage to begin, and the opportunity to succeed. Through Local Preneur Indonesia, I don’t just help people start businesses. I build businesses for them, with a model free of royalties, profit-sharing, or burdens. These businesses are entirely theirs—because for me, independence is the most valuable form of assistance we can offer." 🌴 Thriving in Indonesia: A Spicy Guide for Global Entrepreneurs 🇮🇳🇮🇩 Hello, friends! Apa kabar, everyone! My "From #Coimbatore to #Indonesia" kahani has my notifications buzzing like a Nokia 3310 in a dhaba's pressure cooker! 📱💥 Aap sab ne pucha, so here's my not-so-secret masala for succeeding in Indonesia as an Indian entrepreneur. First, some mind-boggling stats to chew on: • #India + #Indonesia = 1.67 billion people! That's more than 35% of #Asia's. We're talking a market so big, it makes the Great Wall look like a picket fence! 🧱📊 • Indonesia's GDP per capita: $4,292. India's: $2,256. More #Rupiah for your samosas here! 💰🥟 • Indonesia's economy: $1.19 trillion GDP in 2022. The biggest in Southeast Asia - like finding a durian in a basket of rambutans! 🏆🍈 Now, let's dive into the success mantras: Disclaimer: I'm no master, just a chai-loving observer who's seen more successful stories than there are flavors in Indomie! 🍜 1. Check Your Ego at Customs: Leave it behind like overweight luggage. The humility here in #Indonesia will make you feel like you're at a politeness convention! 🧳🙏 2. Become a Learning Sponge: Your team will absorb knowledge faster than nasi goreng soaks up sambal. And remember, "jugaad" isn't a universal language! 🧽📚 3. Embrace the Laugh Track: Offices here have more giggles than a sitcom. And, if you’re too lazy to smile, get a mask with a smiley on it. Get ready for a workplace that sounds like a comedy show minus the canned laughter! 😂🎬 4. Snack Attack & Party Central: Work hard, snack harder, and party like it's New Year's every weekend! 🎉🍿 5. Expand Your Stomach Real Estate: Two stomachs are better than one. Trust me, you'll need the extra space! 🍽️🍽️ 6. Bollywood Buff Up: Brush up on SRK, Salman, and Rani trivia. Throw in some Ramayana wisdom for good measure. It's your ticket to instant connections! 🎭🕉️ 7. Food Diplomacy: Never underestimate the power of sharing a meal in forging business alliances! 🥘🤝 Follow these, and your business goals will fall into place faster than you can say "Terima kasih"! Remember, success in Indonesia is like crafting the perfect fusion dish - it takes the right ingredients, patience, and a willingness to adapt your recipe! 🍛✨ What's your secret ingredient for international success? Share below and let's cook up a storm of ideas! 👇 #IndonesianAdventures #GlobalEntrepreneurs #CrossCulturalBusiness #InnovationNotJugaad JCSS JCSS Indonesia JCSS Law Indonesia Expat

𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝘆𝘁𝗲𝘀 - 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 Indonesia with a population of 27.9 crore is home to the 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀 in the world. Shadow entrepreneurs are those businesses that are unregistered but sell legitimate goods and services. These types of businesses often don't pay taxes falling outside the ambit of economic metric computations. Street foods, household helpers, and technicians, vehicle workshops are some of the classical examples of shadow entrepreneurship that play a significant role both in terms of the livelihood of the people and in the country's economy. not so friends and family-friendly entrepreneur development fund: the case of INDIAN COMMUNITY ENTREPRENEUR DEVELOPMENT SCHEME ( SPUMI ) 1. Tekun SPUMI requires ALL shareholders to personally guarantee a loan that a company would be taking. 2. So assuming 10 school friends decide to suppprt a young Indian tech startup founder - 1st generation entrepreneur - through the 1st year, and the founder decides to reward each a 0.5% equity, and 2 years later the founder qualifies to apply for Tekun Spumi Goes Big fund... Tekun would, as shared by the founder, still require each shareholder who is not involved in day-to-day operations of the company to do a personal guarantee on repayment. I can understand the standard requirement for a guarantor or two - but why ask for all shareholders? A gov-aid that is not making it any easier for friends and family rounds! 3. Anyone else caught in a similar situation with Tekun SPUMI loan? I hope you made it through. 3a Probably Tekun Spumi is not designed for high tech startup entrepreneurs. 4. The records read, as of June 2024, 29000+ Indian entrepreneurs have benefited from Spumi. I’m grateful on behalf of the community. It will be great if Tekun could give clearer report on the breakdown of approved loans eg i How many early stage tech startups founded by Indian entrepreneurs actually benefited? ii Well just please answer (i). That will do. For now. Anyway is it not time that the government of #Malaysia starts thinking of how it can support early stage high tech startup founders from communities in the low income bracket? I just think we can do better. https://lnkd.in/gu4z6XKA #startups #tekun #mitra #spumi p.s. how many Spumi applicants are reading this?

𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚'𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬. The Pang family graciously arranged for a tour of their factory in Malacca and it was a privilege to witness firsthand the story of one of Malaysia's most iconic brands and also my childhood snack — Mamee Monster. The journey began in 1971 when Tan Sri Pang saw something interesting: workers in a rubber tapping estate eating dry instant noodles straight from the packet. This sparked a unique idea. Tan Sri Pang went home and shared it with his father, and that conversation gave birth to Mamee Monster, a snack that would soon become a global sensation. This factory sits on 32 acres of land and exports products to over 90 countries. From a small family business to a globally recognized brand, the company journey is a remarkable testament to innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, and adaptability. This visit also reinforced a lesson that I hold dear—great opportunities often come from the simplest observations. A little easter egg: if you click on the video and observe closely, you will see the latest campaign featuring a very famous character... #Leadership #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #GlobalBusiness #MameeMonster #BusinessStrategy #ThoughtLeadership #Mamee
