It was a game changer for us yesterday in our robotic mitral case, allowing us to avoid any conflict with the left robotic arm and providing more maneuverability of the aorta. The clamp was applied through our mini thoracotomy, eliminating the need for a separate aortic clamp incision in the axilla. hashtag #CorCym In the video, the first clip shows a photo of the Detach Clamp, followed by our attempt at using the clamp. An umbilical hernia occurs when part of the intestine protrudes through the abdominal wall near the belly button. In this case the pneumoperitoneum has made the defect easy to see. Hernias that enlarge quickly, cause pain or contain bowel should be evaluated by a surgeon to see if surgical intervention is warranted. What is a personalized knee replacement? It must include a knee surgical technique AND an implant made specifically for the patient. -using patient specific instrumentation is NOT personalized knee replacement -using a robot to put an off the shelf knee in is NOT personalized knee replacement -using alternative alignment techniques is NOT personalized knee replacement These are not necessarily bad things, they are just attempts to make a symmetric, one shaped implant fit an assymetric, infinite shaped knee better. But true personalization is when the IMPLANT is made for a particular person! If we can, why not? #restor3d

Laparoscopic appendectomy: This method is less invasive. That means it’s done without a large incision. Instead, 1 to 3 tiny cuts are made. A long, thin tube called a laparoscope is put into one of the incisions. It has a tiny video camera and surgical tools. The surgeon looks at a TV monitor to see inside your abdomen and guide the tools. The appendix is removed through one of the incisions.
