Dussehra and the Battle Within: A day before Yesterday was Dussehra, the festival that celebrates the triumph of good over evil. Across the country, effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkarna were burned, symbolizing the victory of Lord Ram. But for me, Dussehra isn’t just about burning those figures year after year. It’s about burning the inner demons that reside within us—the ones that lead us astray without us even realizing it. While many gathered to celebrate Ram’s victory over Ravana, I stayed back. Not because I don’t believe in the festival’s significance, but because I believe it’s not really about Ravana. It never was. It’s a reminder to conquer our own negative traits, to vanquish the darker parts of ourselves that hold us back. Until I conquer my inner demons, I don’t feel ready to truly celebrate. Dussehra, for me, will be the day I succeed in that internal battle. Until then, I’ll keep trying. Hi All, Hope all is well with you. With the summer season upon us comes hope for holidays to 'get away from it all' which may or may not bring some relief from the daily pressures. Only for it to start all over again in September... Throughout the ages there has always been the notion of retreat. Of a place where one can isolate oneself to meditate, think, assess the past and make choices for the future. Ask questions about who we are, who we'd like to be, ...what truly matters. In the constant brain pollution and turmoil of the world/media/work/society out there with its endless potential for insanity it seems harder and harder to find a time, a place or even mental space to use as a retreat. Music can help, music creates a time-frame within which we can shut out the external noise and help us see the world through fresh eyes. Like water to a plant, music can feed our minds with deep emotions, renewed understanding of our humanity, spiritual realisations, as well as the pure excitement of being alive. One of the projects is to see how music refreshes your brain and leads to higher performance when you listen while you are creating or working. So we continue with a series of specials OR2.
