Sharing something new I learned this week: how to add a poster to your iPhone contact card. One recruiter surprised me when their full-frame photo appeared on my phone. I didn't know about this feature until today. When the second recruiter called and I noticed the same full-frame photo feature, I got curious. If you are curious too...the link is below (search for "poster" once you are there). Let me know what you think. https://lnkd.in/e3f5ZKsH.

“The practical takeaway isn't to avoid taking positions - it's to accept that making some people sustainably mad is the cost of saying anything worthwhile. Every strong stance leaves a wake of pissed-off people who'll remember. That's not a bug - it's the price of having a backbone.” This is in no way meant to avoid accountability in terms of being a better communicator, but Shane’s perspective here couldn’t be more accurate and timely. If you have a position that runs counter to the mediocre mainstream and is one that demands they think a bit, or think outside the box, no matter your tone, or your approach or the shirts you wear, you will not be popular. Just be aware that in the modern era of “safe space” and “micro aggression” having a contrarian point of view will be used against you.
Anger lasts longer than happiness. Drop a hot take about iPhone vs. Android, and those who agree nod and keep scrolling. But those green-texting Android users? They'll screenshot that post and remember it at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. That’s human nature. While approval fades like a high-five, disagreement sticks like a tattoo. Your allies get a quick hit of dopamine and move on. Your critics get a slight that’s hard to wash off. The practical takeaway isn't to avoid taking positions - it's to accept that making some people sustainably mad is the cost of saying anything worthwhile. Every strong stance leaves a wake of pissed-off people who'll remember. That's not a bug - it's the price of having a backbone. Don't water yourself down. Trying to please everyone means standing for nothing.

I’m considering a “digital deep clean” in my life. I need to find a better way to do life. The digital distraction is killing me. If you’ve done something similar, what worked? Didn’t work? Ideas 1/ Buy another phone for personal and keep my “work phone” completely off during free days/time. - Only family and friends (and my practice manager for emergencies) get the new # - Autoresponder on email and iMessage - No email accounts setup on personal phone 2/ Delete Instagram and X accounts (Facebook account deleted years ago), possibly keeping one or both of these on the personal phone. 3/ Any other ideas? Issues - Syncing my Apple Watch to only one device (which one?); seems like personal makes sense. - Keeping track of two phones. - Keeping autoreaponder on/off sounds like a pain.

Your advice has precedence since we remember better when we ‘chunk’ information, which seems similar to para- white space-para etc method.

10+ years ago, I walked into a CMO's office for a meeting. He pointed at his closed laptop and said "I haven't opened that thing in months". I laughed. Except, he wasn't kidding. He did everything on his phone. This was back when we were all using the "please excuse any typos - sent by my iPhone" auto-sig. Sure enough, when I went back and looked, EVERY email reply he ever sent me had that at the bottom. He wrote in short, choppy, fragmented sentences. Like someone who was in a hurry. Because, he was. Years later, in 2021, I saw a stat from Lavender that we're 8x more likely to open an email on our phones vs. our laptop. I thought of him. And, now, I still think of him when I write cold emails. Watch to learn why mobile optimization matters when we're writing our cold outreach.

The Most interesting lawsuit of the century against Apple by US Department of justice ⚖ that you should be aware of ! Let's start with the 2010's story of Apple where all this started. One top apple executive mailed the Steve Jobs and inform him about an ad which shows a woman uses her iPhone to buy and read books on the Kindle app. She then easily switch to Android smartphone and continuous to read her book using the same Kindle app. Executive tell the Steve Jobs that this easy switching is not fun to watch. Steve Jobs overlook the problem and force the developers to use its payment system to lock in both developers and users on its platform. Similarly Apple responded to competitive threads like this one by making it harder and more expensive for user and developers to leave them by making it more attractive for them to stay. Now here comes the allegations which had been made by the US Department of Justice: • Apple does not facilitate cross platform messaging apps. The most famous Blue Bubble vs Green Bubble debate. • Apple banned cloud streaming game apps because of cut in lucrative in-app purchases for individual games. • Apple suppressed key functions of third party smart watches and promote its watches by facilitating ease in connecting. The only question is that does department of Justice win against Apple? Well, we don't know. Because no matter what good a story you weave, you still need to convince the court that the facts are on your side. DND can help you feel more present in your own life.📲🌙 Think about it: how often do notifications pull you away from important moments? Notifications are perceived as URGENT, but often classified as UNIMPORTANT. Think about it. No one is going to text in an emergency. They call. An email usually isn't the fastest way to get your attention. They know how to find you if they need you. But we see the notification from the corner of our eye and lose focus. Whether you're in a deep work session, spending quality time with your kids, or just taking a moment for yourself after a long day, the 'ping' of a notification can shatter that precious concentration or connection. These interruptions often create a false sense of urgency for things that, in reality, can wait. MY RECOMMENDATION: Set up DND on your phone now. Here's how to do it: 📱iPhone users: Go to Settings>Focus>Do Not Disturb 📞Android users: Swipe down from the top of your screen. Then tap Do Not Disturb. Like👍🏼 this post if it was useful! #balancedlife #worklifebalance #donotdisturb #balancedliving #productivityhabits #productivitytip

Something about typing on a laptop keyboard just puts me in professional mode. Suddenly, I’m writing 300-word emails because it feels fancy. But here’s the kicker—when they open it on their iPhone, it’s like reading the Star Wars intro. No one’s scrolling through all that, and now your fancy words are lost in space.🌌 Pro tip: Before sending, email it to yourself and read it on your phone. If it feels too long, it probably is! Keep it tight and impactful. Big words mean nothing if no one’s reading them 🤷♂️ #SellingLocal #EmailTips #Resquared

Tech tips for an online interview using a Mac ~ invest in a good microphone ~ if you have an iPhone, use continuity camera. This means using the iPhone camera which is better than the computer camera. You’ll need a mount to place at the top of your computer ~ I like a to stand so I can gesture a bit more so a standing desk is worth the investment ~ disable reactions, use spotlight, and think about whether you want head tracking (test!). These options all appear in the menu bar once the camera is on. ~ and this last one only works with the new macOS version so you may need to wait till fall*, but the new backgrounds are way bettter at making you look good than what zoom and other platforms provide What tech tips do you have? * you can get it now but don’t recommend unless you’re a crazy nerd like me. 🤪
