We need to develop our education with an unsentimental understanding of own situation in order to build future leadership, who can prepare citizens to cope with multi-perspective realities. The core of education must aim to turn people into social capital, who can maturely understand their stake to develop national culture and institutions, and manage the republic. Only virtuous education can make the new sovereignty worthwhile and dignified.

The recent QS Higher Ed Summit discussed the integration of sustainability and cultural diversity in #highereducation – topics that align closely with SARUA’s mission for #innovation and #sustainabledevelopment across the #SADC region. The focus on inclusive policies and preparing graduates for global challenges is a shared priority for institutions everywhere. Educational institutions must begin to ask tough questions about their survivability over the next decade when around them the leadership in so many sectors are changing to reflect the world we live in, but at these institutions, there is still an invisible line intersected by races, genders and identities that continue to not hold leadership roles at our universities.
