I believe the selection of J.D. Vance as Donald Trump’s running mate will play a crucial role in attracting a broad spectrum of voters in key swing states. Here’s why this decision is strategically significant: Appeal to Working-Class Voters J.D. Vance’s background resonates deeply with working-class Americans, particularly those in the Rust Belt. Raised in a struggling Ohio family, Vance understands the economic and social challenges faced by many in this region. His narrative, as detailed in his memoir “Hillbilly Elegy,” aligns closely with the experiences of voters who have felt left behind by globalization and economic shifts. Strengthening the Economic Message Vance’s emphasis on economic revival and job creation dovetails perfectly with Trump’s platform. His focus on supporting small businesses and advocating for policies that bring jobs back to America will appeal to voters in states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. These states are critical battlegrounds where economic concerns are paramount. Enhancing Law and Order Stance With a strong commitment to law and order, Vance reinforces one of Trump’s key messages. Voters in suburban and rural areas, who prioritize safety and security, will find this stance reassuring. This is particularly important in swing states where crime and public safety are significant issues. Resonating with Rural America Vance’s policies on agricultural support and rural development will resonate with voters in rural districts. His background and advocacy for traditional values appeal to the heartland, helping to secure votes in regions that are crucial for a Republican victory. Mobilizing Conservative Base Vance’s strong conservative credentials and his stance on national sovereignty, including stringent immigration policies and trade protectionism, will energize the Republican base. His commitment to these issues will help solidify support among conservative voters who may have been wavering. Role of His Youth and Biography J.D. Vance’s youth and biography add a compelling layer to his political appeal. As someone who has personally navigated the challenges of a turbulent upbringing and emerged successful, Vance embodies the narrative of overcoming adversity—a story that resonates with many Americans. His youth brings a fresh perspective to the campaign, potentially attracting younger voters who see him as a relatable figure. Furthermore, his experiences documented in “Hillbilly Elegy” highlight a journey from hardship to success, reflecting values of resilience and determination that many voters admire and respect. In summary, J.D. Vance as Trump’s running mate is a strategic move designed to attract a diverse coalition of voters across key swing states.. https://lnkd.in/e6XS37rA

National politics ebb and flow depending on contemporary circumstances, how parties are perceived, and a general balance of nature. It is unusual for parties to hold sway over long periods of time, so it's helpful to keep an eye on the thermometer to gauge the temperature of the electorate. Governing wrote about the political shift in one county that had been a democratic stronghold to one voting for Trump's reelection. #politics #politicalshifts #politicalbalance #governace #electorate #constituencies #reachingvoters https://lnkd.in/eW6qSe5t

Thanks Nicholas Coccoma for posting this article about random selection of legislators!
On this Election Day in the United States, it's great to see Daniel Pink sound the trumpet for sortition in The Washington Post. Americans are divided about a lot, but they all agree that partisan politics is killing us. The answer is clear: use democratic lotteries to empower everyday citizens to come together, listen to each other, and forge the best decisions for our nation. That--and that alone--is government of the people, by the people, for the people. #Democracy #CitizensAssemblies #DemocraticInnovation #DeliberativeDemocracy

Dear Friends in SWING STATE of New Jersey, This year, NJ could be the unexpected flip like Georgia in 2020. Consider Cygnal’s latest poll (600 likely voters): Harris is up +12%, but... Top issues: -Inflation and economy -Illegal immigration and border security -Threats to democracy These are areas where Trump consistently wins, especially with Biden/Harris's struggles on the economy, border, and free speech. New Jerseyans remember the overreach during COVID and the impact on constitutional rights. Key points: -15% of NJ Senate voters are undecided -18% of NJ voters are “persuadable” -Nearly half think the country is on the wrong track Remember that defiant bearded gym owner during Covid who stood up to King Murphy and won? NJ isn’t alone in questioning why we keep voting blue. Polling realities: An ActiVote poll of 400 NJ voters over-represents wealthy suburban college grads (likely Manhattan transplants), with a 5% margin of error—far from Pew’s recommended 1-3% for accuracy in critical races. And the NJ Globe (Oct. 26) reports that early voting turnout is nearly even between Democrats and Republicans. Don’t let skewed polls keep you home—get out and VOTE! And if you notice issues like machine problems or suspicious activity, contact your local Trump campaign and our NJ Secretary of State Tahesha Way immediately: NJ Department of State P.O. What did we learn from Election Day? - Massachusetts still retains its progressive values but had a large shift to the right. - Donald Trump won approximately a quarter of cities and towns across the Bay State. 33 that voted for Biden in 2020 flipped to Trump. - Exit polls show that Mass. voters viewed the economy and jobs as the most important issue facing the nation. - Moderation prevailed on ballot initiatives. Voters roundly rejected Question 5, which would have raised costs for small restaurants and hurt tipped workers. And they approved of Question 1, which could provide more sunlight on how the Legislature spends their money. State leaders should see this as a call to refocus on the pocketbook issues that have accelerated our outmigration crisis.

Pleased to collaberate with my colleagues at Earnscliffe Strategies on an insights piece to set the context for the upcoming provincial election. In a nutshell: 💡The B.C. provincial election is becoming a two-horse race, with the BCNDP and the BC Conservative Party running neck and neck, while the BC United Party desperately tries to rescue itself from obscurity. 💡Regardless of the outcome of the election, B.C. can expect a significantly different government than it has today. 💡A BCNDP majority government will be emboldened to continue pursuing its progressive policy agenda, potentially with renewed vigour as a new, younger and more diverse set of candidates take leadership positions. 💡A BC Conservative majority government will radically shift the policy environment to reflect leader John Rustad’s vision of less government intervention – in the marketplace and in the homes of the province’s families. 💡A third option – a minority parliament – is still very much a possibility, which would lead to short-term uncertainty similar to the environment after the 2017 election. 5moKateryna Odarchenko, US Army LTC Tulsi Gabbard would have been a better choice overall as she has more military experience than Vance and has done more on the world stage. She also would appeal to conservative Democrats and independents whereas Vance will not. She's also a woman of color, being from American Samoa. I understand that Vance may be the future of the party, however, Trump needs to win this election first. Vance does not win him anything he didn't already have. Ohio is a red state. Gabbard would have brought more and could be VP, Sec of State or Defense. Vance doesn't have all that much political experience.
