The holiday season can be overstimulating for young children with all the bright lights, new faces, and disrupted routines. Our top tips to help you navigate the next month are: Stick to routines: Try to maintain regular nap and mealtimes as much as possible. Predictability helps children feel secure. Create calm spaces: Designate a quiet corner at gatherings where little ones can retreat if they become overwhelmed. Involve them: Let children participate in simple tasks like decorating cookies or wrapping gifts. It makes them feel included and excited without being overstimulated. Sensory-friendly activities: Choose holiday activities that are gentle on their senses, like soft Christmas music, simple crafts, or storytime with festive books. #sunshinesociety #wellnessjourney #holistichealth

Thanksgiving gatherings can be a whirlwind of activity, and that can sometimes be overwhelming for kids (and adults!). Here's how to create some calming spaces and moments amidst the holiday bustle: 🔕 Quiet Zone: Designate a quiet room or corner where kids can retreat for some peace and quiet. Include calming items like soft blankets, pillows, books, or sensory toys. ⏲️ Scheduled Breaks: Plan short breaks throughout the day where kids can step away from the excitement. Even 15 minutes can help them recharge. 🎶 Sensory Activities: Offer calming sensory activities like coloring, play dough, puzzles, or listening to quiet music. 🌤️ Outdoor Time: Encourage some outdoor playtime to burn off energy and enjoy fresh air. Recognize that every child is different. Some might thrive in the excitement, while others need more downtime. Be responsive to their cues. By creating a balance between festive fun and peaceful moments, you can help everyone enjoy a happy and stress-free Thanksgiving. #SensoryFriendly #CalmKids #HolidayWellbeing #SHIELDWV

Homework Help: Moms are consistent in helping us with our homework, teaching us the value of staying dedicated to our studies every day. 4. Healthy Habits: Whether it's making us eat our greens or reminding us to drink water, moms show us the importance of consistency in maintaining healthy habits. 5. Bedtime Stories: Bedtime stories from mom are a comforting ritual, showcasing the power of consistency in fostering bonds and creating lasting memories. 6. Always There :Through thick and thin, moms are always there for us, demonstrating how consistency builds trust and reliability in relationships. We can learn being consistent from our own mom we just need to observe and learn from there only. An individual should be focused and consistent to there goals. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY ❤️

Christmas can feel overwhelming for some neurodivergent children, here are a few top tips to reduce meltdowns and create a calmer Christmas time (please add yours in the comments). Do Christmas dinner your way...Don’t stress about the 'traditional' meal! Bring along safe foods your child loves and feels comfortable eating. The goal is to enjoy the moment, not force the menu. Create a safe space...Wherever you are, find a quiet area free from people, bright lights, and overwhelming decorations. If your child knows they can go somewhere to regulate and have a break when they are someone's house then they will feel more in control of the situation. Prep is key...Help your child feel ready with visual or verbal schedule; whatever works best for them. Talk through what’s happening so they know what to expect. Involve Movement...Active play is important! Plan activities like a morning walk, jumping games, or even a sensory-friendly stretch. Movement helps regulate emotions and keeps everyone in the 'just-right' state. Remember, do what works for your family, remove the pressure of the expectations of others and I hope you have a lovely Christmas.
