Preparing to watch the Netherlands take on Turkey in the UEFA 2024 quarter-final, I’m reminded of the critical role competition plays in all our lives. Whether on the pitch or in the boardroom, competition pushes us to be better, to innovate, and to reach heights we might not have thought possible. But here’s the thing—competition isn’t just about winning. It’s about having someone to measure up against, someone who drives you to bring your best game. Without competition, there’s no match, no drive, and no progress.

San Diego FC today announced a major addition to the Club’s ownership group as former Spanish international and World Cup champion Juan Mata García has joined as a Partner. 🏆 The list of the 25 finalists for the European Golden Boy – Absolute Best 2024 award have been revealed, which includes the top 20 from the latest October update of the Golden Boy Football Benchmark Index and the 5 Poste Italiane Wild Card selections chosen from the excluded players on the index from positions 21 to 100. 🔝 The player remaining on top of the list is FC Barcelona’s 17-year-old wonderkid Lamine Yamal, who has impressed the World recently, also winning the Euro 2024 with Spain and being named as the Young Player of The Tournament, just 1 day after turning 17. 🌍 The 25 finalists represent 13 countries, with France leading the way with 5 players, followed by Spain, England (4); and Türkiye and Brazil (2). With 7 candidates, the Premier League is the most represented league, ahead of La Liga (5) and Ligue 1 (4). Two clubs have three players among the finalists: Paris Saint-Germain (with 2 in the top 3) and Manchester United.
