It's been a week since #NeurIPS 2024. I've written a short report summarising the main themes that we think will be interesting to follow in 2025. Check out the blog post: https://lnkd.in/eaySR_pm
🤖 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗜𝗣𝗦 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 🇨🇦 The 2024 edition showed a fundamental shift in how the field thinks about improving AI systems. The era of chasing ever-larger model scales seems to be drawing to a close, with researchers instead seeking performance gains through more sophisticated approaches. In this post (https://lnkd.in/edrrrSTc), our Core Intelligence team shares their key takeaways from the conference: the emergence of advanced post-training techniques, the growing importance of inference-time optimisation, and the renewed emphasis on System 2 reasoning capabilities—a topic particularly relevant to our recent work on the ARC challenge. One highlight for our team was spending time discussing and brainstorming ideas with pioneers in the field of AI reasoning such as François Chollet, Mike Knoop and Melanie Mitchell. There has not been a more exciting time to build – if working at the intersection of frontier AI and software generation gets you excited, we'd love to hear from you! At KIMRA Conference 2024 we asked attendees from knowledge & information management and research & analysis teams what areas would most benefit from generative AI. I wonder what this chart will look like when we ask next year, find out at KIMRA 2025. Link in the comments. CB Resourcing

"...The Global South also holds an immense amount of value in how populations are using and developing AI tools and models in the present and in the potential they have to contribute to our understanding of the tech and our ability to turn it toward new problems. This potential is why the governments of Global North powers and the leadership of major tech corporations are turning their attention to the Global South." 📖 Read the full piece written by Kellee Wicker, and inspired by a roundtable of technologists, researchers, scholars, and policy personnel from 12 Global South countries we hosted this fall: https://bit.ly/4ij3l9H
