I love living things..especially pets. Today, while walking around, I couldn't help but notice the distressing sight of pets left outdoors in the scorching heat of summer, barking incessantly out of pain or boredom. It's heartbreaking to see animals suffer because they are being "pet-sat" by unwilling friends or family. Pets, like all living beings, deserve peace and true companionship. Keeping a pet solely for status, "only when it suits me" or as a decorative item is not only unfair to the animal but also constitutes a form of abuse. Dumping your pet on others who are not fully willing and knowledgeable to help can be distressing for your pet. Sadly, many pets end up in shelters like the SPCA, facing euthanasia due to the irresponsible actions of their original owners who started a chain of "pass the buck" with the pet. This results in Americans spending $1.5 billion annually on animal control and euthanasia. Let's break the cycle of neglect and abandonment by making thoughtful and responsible pet ownership and parenting from the start. Let's strive for wise living and ensure that our furry friends receive the care, love, and respect they deserve. Fantastic news for pets in lets 🏘️🐶🐱 It was great to see the #RentersReformBill pass through the House of Commons just now, on to its next stage in the Lords. This important legislation will help millions of renters and pets! 🎊 Pet owners should never have to choose between having a roof over their head and giving up their furry family member, so we were delighted to see a clause added that will ensure landlords can’t unreasonably say no when a tenant requests to keep a pet. Not only could the Renters (Reform) Bill increase the number of homes available to responsible pet owners and help ease the strain on overflowing animal rescue centres, but it could also provide health benefits. According to Battersea's Pet Friendly Properties Report, pet owners make 15% fewer visits to the doctor for both physical and mental health reasons! Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) is back at it again, showing the world the profound impact our furry friends have on our mental health. Their recent conference was a beacon of insight and collaboration, bringing together leaders in the pet care community and mental health experts to deepen our understanding and promote the benefits of the human-animal bond. In collaboration with Mental Health America, HABRI shared some eye-opening survey results from 4,000 respondents. The findings? Nothing short of inspiring: ⭐ 98% of pet owners report at least one health benefit from their pet, including reduced loneliness (73%), comfort (73%), and a source of happiness (79%). ⭐ 71% of respondents, and an even higher 76% of those with a disability, are eager to work with mental health professionals who incorporate pets or animal-assisted interventions (AAI) into their practice. ⭐ 93% of respondents agree that society needs to provide more support for pet ownership and AAIs. This data underlines what many of us already know: pets are more than just companions; they are vital contributors to our well-being. As we celebrate these findings, let's also think about how we can turn this research into action. It's National Pet day !!   Our furry friends undoubtedly bring joy and happiness into every pet parent's life. They surely brighten up the room and bring smiles with their heart-warming actions. They are a solution to many of life’s problems.  Here are 4 “PAW-mises” we need to make this National Pet Day:  1.  Nutritional treats- ‘Health is wealth’, so let's ensure that we, as pet parents, abide by this for our pets. It’s crucial for pet parents to be mindful and informed when making choices about the pet food and treats we purchase.  2. Spend more time-The most basic thing that a pet parent can do is spend more time with our furry buddies. It could be as simple as taking them for a walk, planning a fun outdoor adventure once a month, scheduling a spa day, etc. Every effort made by pawrents makes a difference in our pet buddies' lives. 3. Provide shelter- It's truly saddening to see that many of our beloved pets are abandoned and lack the essential necessities for survival. It's heartbreaking to see millions of pets living without proper hygiene and security. This National Pet Day, let's pledge to prioritize providing "More shelter for our little ones" as our primary goal.  4. Adopt and don’t Buy- Every year, millions of animals end up in NGOs and rescue centers, where a shortage of resources makes it challenging to provide adequate care and support. Instead of buying pets, let's ensure that we adopt these little ones and welcome them into our hearts and lives offering them a second chance.  So, on this National Pet Day, let’s promise ourselves that our little ones live a Happy, Safe and Dignified life.
