A big shout out to the great folks at Oyster Boys, a 501C(3) group that we work with on bay restoration. One of the founders of Oyster Boys, Dom Marino, works in the field of assisted living facilities. In this video, he highlights their efforts to engage folks with dementia and/or Alzheimer's in the construction of Vertical Oyster Gardens (VOGs) to be put out in Sarasota Bay. The bay benefits by having more of these VOGs to be used to help with our water quality issues, and the residents get to have some focused activities that give their day a bit more purpose than it might have otherwise. What we end up with is a win-win-win situation. The bay gets FREE VOGs to put out (or we can point you to a vendor who can help out with deployment), taxpayers save money because volunteers are putting these together, not paid staff, and the residents get to do something different - knowing that they are helping to sustain our bay's ongoing recovery. To be successful in recovering our bay's water quality and ecosystem health, we need to continue to look for these types of opportunities to get more people engaged in bay restoration.

🔧 Temporary Heating, Power Solutions, Scaffolding for Schools…and Halloween Decorations at home! 🎃 Another week, another challenge! With 10+more CIF tenders added to the mix and Joe pushing for our expansion into temporary plant services, we’re handling both heating and power solutions across the board. This morning, I ordered two more 10 foot containers to meet demand – the school addressing a failed legacy bid in the south, and another facing a reactive response in the north. Temporary solutions deployed - crucial for keeping schools operational, but they’re costly, making me wonder if the government’s current approach with the IMF and reinvestment may be good or bad plan, I guess I'll know when we exchange to Euro's for the summer holiday. This week’s extra adventure? Scaling scaffolding for an inspection too detailed for a drone – sometimes, it’s all about a hands-on approach, although I did not like looking down. And Wednesday night? Climbing a ladder at home for my youngest, Ruby, who was thrilled for the Halloween ghosts to go up. Health and safety? Out the window – her only priority was getting those decorations on. I'm not sure she cared once they stared moving. 🎃
