$20 Million Mysteriously Missing from U.S. Government Crypto Wallets Earlier today, Bitcoin.com News reported that approximately $20 million worth of stablecoins and Ethereum were mysteriously transferred from a U.S. government wallet. These funds were linked to assets seized in relation to the 2016 Bitfinex hack. An on-chain analyst at Arkham Intelligence suspects the wallet may have been compromised, as funds were moved to a new five-day-old address in what appears to be a likely theft. Among the funds transferred: - $1.25 million in Tether (USDT) was withdrawn from Aave. - $5.5 million in USDC stablecoins. - $446,000 worth of Ethereum (ETH). - $13.7 million in aUSDC (an interest-bearing token representing USDC on Aave). Some of the funds were moved to instant exchanges, including one sourcing liquidity from Binance, the world’s largest crypto trading platform by volume. This marks the first time these funds have been touched in eight months, raising concerns about the security of seized assets held in government-controlled wallets. #CryptoSecurity #Blockchain #BitfinexHack #DigitalAssets #USGovernment #CyberSecurity #Ethereum #Stablecoins #BlockchainTechnology #Aave #Binance
