Finding commonalities is the second step toward bridging division. The first is willingness to do so. And there’s a critical element for optimal results. This is true in our personal relationships and our communities. And this video advertisement illuminates this beautifully. When we focus on finding common ground in our values, dreams or struggles, walls that separate us begin to crumble. Intimacy—true connection beyond the surface—allows us to see and feel the humanity in one another. Intimacy is the critical element otherwise any communication remains superficial. Confidence doesn’t mean ignoring our fears—it means facing them head-on, knowing that with each step forward, we’re becoming the person we’re meant to be! To have a team underneath you that is confident in their own abilities and skillsets is a powerful work force multiplier and so invaluable. That dynamic only stems from an environment that fosters growth and development through open and healthy leadership. Allow your team to be creative, allow them to fail, allow them to learn and adapt, and allow them to grow their confidence as they develop into their full potential - naturally and through mentorship not micromanagement.

When we create as a team, so much of our process relies on the confidence to bring new ideas to the table and reserving judgement so we can really see what develops. The way to get to truly extraordinary ideas is to be willing to have bad ones first. And so much of creativity is being willing to trust the process and risk a bad idea. They are the stepping stones on the way to excellence.
