Giftypedia - Emergency Gifts! Emergency Gifts are a small stash of general purpose gifts that you keep close on hand in the event someone gives you a holiday gift that you didn't expect or an unexpected guest arrives with a gift in hand. Many refer to this stash as their gift closet or gift trunk. This gives you the opportunity to give them a gift in return and make it look like you had something picked out for them as well. Gifts should be given without having to expect to receive one in return, though, it definitely seems to feel better if holiday gift giving with neighbors and friends are mutual. http://joycesgiftstore.com (Temporarily Closed)

Stay Safe This Christmas! As we gather around our Christmas trees to celebrate joy, family, and togetherness, let's not forget the importance of safety during the festivities. Here are a few quick tips to keep the holiday season merry and bright: 1. Choose a Safe Spot: Place your tree away from heat sources like radiators, fireplaces, and candles to avoid fire risks. 2. Light it Right: Opt for LED lights, which are cooler and more energy-efficient. Always turn them off before going to bed or leaving the house. 3. Secure the Tree: Make sure your tree is stable and won't tip over, especially if there are kids or pets around. 4. Check the Wiring: Inspect light strings for frayed cords, broken bulbs, or loose connections. A small check can prevent big accidents. 5. Be Ready for Emergencies: Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and ensure smoke alarms are functional. This Christmas, let's prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of our loved ones. Wishing you all a joyful, peaceful, and SAFE holiday season! Some facts: Home Fires: Between 2016 and 2020, U.S. fire departments responded to an average of 160 home fires annually that began with Christmas trees. These incidents resulted in an average of 2 civilian deaths, 11 civilian injuries, and $12 million in direct property damage each year. Electrical Issues: Approximately 25% of Christmas tree fires are attributed to electrical problems or heat sources, including electric lights, fireplaces, radiators, and candles, placed too close to the tree. Injuries from Decorating: Each year, about 1,000 people are injured by their Christmas tree, often while attaching decorations to higher branches. Additionally, more than 1 in 40 individuals have experienced electric shocks due to poorly wired Christmas lights. Increased Fire Risk: People are 50% more likely to die in a house fire over Christmas than at any other time of the year The best way to spread Christmas cheer is by staying safe for those we hold dear! #HSE #SafetyFirst #ChristmasSafety https://lnkd.in/emvpi3mr.

Have you ever asked your child what the other parent got them for Christmas, only to feel a twinge of irritation or defeat because your gift was simpler? It happens... But here's what you can do: Before gift-giving occasions roll around, have a quick chat with your co-parent. It’s not about competition or outdoing each other; it’s about making those moments special for your child. You could even consider coordinating gifts or setting a 'gift budget' to keep things balanced and joyful. Remember, the value of a gift isn't in its price tag but in the love and thought behind it. So keep those spirits high and make every occasion a win-win for the most important person in the equation—your child.

Supporting pet owners through their grief is a vital part of the services that pet end-of-life professionals provide. Here are some ways you can help families navigate the difficult period following the loss of a beloved pet: 💜 Stay in close communication: More than you ever have before, reaching out can make a significant difference. 💜 Send a sympathy card: Consider following up with an anniversary card in the future too. 💜 Call them tomorrow: And the next day. Frequent check-ins show you care. 💜 Use your social sites to pay tribute: Share memories and honor the departed soul. 💜 Showcase a memorial tribute: A thoughtful way to remember the joys shared. 💜 Host a 'Good-Bye/Until We Meet Again' event: Bring closure and communal support. 💜 Hold routine virtual memorial services: Weekly or monthly, these services can provide a consistent space for mourning and remembrance. 💜 Run a virtual pet loss support group: Use platforms like Facebook Live or Zoom to create a supportive community. Each of these steps can help provide comfort and affirm that they’re not alone in their grief.
