🚨Warning: toilet-based recruitment analogy🚨 As per my post yesterday, I was in a beautiful location doing a workshop with a diverse and super motivated group of companies. I set up, nipped to the loo. Washed hands (obvs), dried. In my opinion, the grading of of hand-drying facilities is as follows: A. Paper towel B. Rolly/ blu roll type stuff C. Hand dryer D. Dyson hand dryer air blade thing (too loud) I wasn't aware that an A* existed. Until I saw this. And my immediate thought was, what a hassle that must have been. But also, this looks great. The effort that had gone into this made me be quite careful about taking a couple off the top, not messing it all up and then putting the used one in the bin. Which is a bit like a brand. You can stick something up quickly that 'does the job'. It has your name, logo on it and serves a purpose. But when you've got a brand that's obviously had thought put into it, people notice. When the copy on your website is interesting, people notice. When your products solve problems, people notice the effort you've gone to to do that. Not only do they notice, but they're a bit more respectful. They look at you differently, talk to you differently and act differently. The power dynamic shifts. Vanity metrics like exposure and brand awareness aren't things to get too hung up on. However investing in the bits of your business that people see up front goes a long way. See also, great job ads (CC Mitch Sullivan) and a compelling product offering (CC Ben Browning). In recruitment, everyone's got access to the same tools, so invest that bit of extra time and resource in yours to help you stand out and cut through the noise. #kitto #recruitmentmarketing #branding

Picture yourself interviewing a candidate for a highly specialized job. While you are forming an opinion about the candidate, they are also forming an opinion about you and the company you represent. Both the interviewer and the interviewee are under scrutiny. Before and during this interview, your employer's value proposition (EVP) must shine through everything you say and everything your brand presents to the world. The EVP is a statement of the values, culture, rewards, recognition, and support that you offer your employees. If you want to know where your business is going- let me look at your calendar and observe for a week the quality and quantity of conversations you are having with the types of candidates who you need to be in business with. That tells you where your business is going. Because if we want to build a world class business, we need world class people. These are relationship driven positions, and relationships are built by conversations, one great conversation at a time. So if you really want to boil it down and get clear- we're in the business of getting into conversations with people who we need to be in business with. That's what we do. That is our #1 factor. - Joe #recruiting #recruiter #consulting #marketing #arroyoandco #visionarchitect #boulder #colorado
