Using the new Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 127 pedestrian automatic emergency braking (PAEB) test scenarios, new test results from VSI Labs highlight the superior performance of our fused-thermal PAEB system. With the ability to see well beyond the range of headlights, thermal cameras provide advanced warning extending braking distances, improving detection performance, and increasing deceleration comfort and safety. 🗝️KEY FINDINGS 🔹Thermal-fused and all three 2024 COTS PAEB systems tested passed all daytime tests. 🔹Only the thermal-fused PAEB system passed all nighttime tests, demonstrating superior detection capabilities independent of headlight performance. 🔹Commercially available heated, thermally active Pedestrian Test Mannequins (PTMs) realistically represent a human thermal signature and are recommended for future PAEB testing protocols using thermal cameras. 📑DOWNLOAD TEST REPORT: https://bit.ly/3VqiX1r #teledyne #FLIR #VSIlabs #thermalimaging #autonomousdriving #artificialintelligence #roadsafety

Until recently, studies of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) have used proxies for crash risk, such as driver attentiveness, to predict how these systems influence real-world crash rates — but that’s all changing with the availability of new data. At AHFE International Conference, Exponent’s Iiona D.
