We’re looking forward to connecting with partners old and new at The Installation Assurance Authority (The IAA) Federation’s annual conference this Thursday. It’s an important opportunity to bring together the industry as it gears up for the Warm Homes Plan, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme extension, and everything ECO4 and GBIS may bring in 2025. 🏡 Mat Ilic and Elliott Grover will be making sure that the need for a skilled trade workforce is served as the conference underlines the direction of travel for energy efficiency and retrofit. 👩🔧 Let us know if you’re going to be there too! ⚡️ Nigel Donohue LLB first honours Tom Cheetham Caroline Kuchta tony hardiman MBE Miatta Fahnbulleh Sara Edmonds Adam Scorer National Energy Action (NEA) Department for Energy Security and Net Zero Making Energy Greener Dyson Energy Services part of the Sureserve Group Eco Approach InstaGroup Ltd #IAAF #IAAFConference #WarmHousePlan #ECO4 #GBIS #EnergyEfficiency #Retrofit #FuelPoverty

Fantastic to see support from across the industry for the launch of The IAAF with Sarah Kostense-Winterton Chair of the EEIG saying “As a supply chain representative coalition, the EEIG welcomes the launch of The IAAF to bolster support for the SME businesses that are on the front line of delivery in homes across the UK and are vital for the success of government energy efficiency and low carbon heat policy. The EEIG looks forward to working alongside The IAAF to develop and deliver practical, evidence-based policy with the government and further strengthening an industry with quality assurance and consumer confidence at its heart, whilst boosting both local jobs and economic prosperity. The IAAF will give the SMEs a vital voice with government and within the industry, and guiding these important businesses as they navigate the potential change with a new government after the general election later this year.” You can read more about The IAA Federation here: https://lnkd.in/eUVE-rbr #energyefficiency #lowcarbonfuture #renewableenergy

Honored to have spoken at FII8 on a panel exploring how today’s investments are making renewable energy more affordable and accessible for the future. Listening to His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Minister of Energy, discuss Saudi Arabia’s net zero emission strategy was a powerful reminder of how essential global collaboration is in addressing climate challenges. Thoughtful, strategic investments today are laying the foundation for a more resilient and inclusive world tomorrow. A heartfelt thank you to #FII8 for convening such an inspiring group of global leaders, innovators, and visionaries. Here’s to continuing these critical conversations and driving meaningful progress together. #FII8 #FutureInvestmentInitiative #Sustainability #Collaboration #GreenEnergy #Innovation #GlobalImpact

IAG on track to meeting UK (10%) and EU (6%, which it will exceed, and be compliant on for the eSAF part) SAF commitments by 2030 with this deal with Twelve. Great to see the sector moving into execution, and IAG leading in this instance, to break the deadlock on fuel availability and build confidence for others in the process. SAF will play a major role on route to net zero 2050. It is one of the levers we can pull near term. https://lnkd.in/eEBAcPJu

By the end of last year, the Energy Community Secretariat had published their recommendations to the National Energy and Climate Plans (#NECP) for all those WB6 Contracting Parties that had submitted an NECP. Admittedly only providing a snapshot of some of the recommendations, we deem especially three aspects as crucial and are curious to see to what extent they will be incorporated in the 2024 revisions and whether the NECPs in the #WB6 region can live up to the expectation to boost the #greentransition.

👀 All eyes on #SBTi - I was very disappointed to read yesterday’s statement from their board signalling support for the use of offsets to meet scope 3 targets. And then I am somewhat reassured to read this response from SBTi’s staff that this is NOT the position of the initiative, and that they remain committed to produce only the most robust standards that ensure companies credibly mitigate their value chain emissions and align business practices with the transformation needed to reach #NetZero and limit warming to no more than 1.5°C. The UN HLEG standard on Net Zero states clearly that carbon offsets cannot be counted toward a company’s interim emissions reductions required by its net zero pathway. Purchase of cheap credits (that often lack integrity) is no substitution for immediately cutting their own emissions across their value chain. Given that science–based credibility is SBTi’s primary selling point (setting them apart from so many other industry-led standards), this is a litmus test for SBTi. https://lnkd.in/daX9DGB6

A good PtX example that demonstrates the need to consider all aspects of project development in the early days. PtX projects need to balance technology choices, willingness to pay for products, regulations, design,... together rather than sequentially to avoid costly re-design.
To Fishcher-Tropsch or to Methanol-to-jet? That's the question many eSAF project developers are asking themselves right now. Hamburg University of Technology has recently performed a study comparing the two pathways to convert Hydrogen and captured CO2 into jetfuel. The main conclusion: Fisher tropsch has a better efficiency to produce a wide range of hydro-carbon products but MtK has a higher selectivity for Kerosine production and therefore a higher energy and carbon efficiency when only considering the Kerosine output. So which pathway should project developers choose? That all depends on the balance between the premium value for e-SAF and the by-products.
