I used to skip this one thing that could have fast-tracked my career (and I’m not referring to leg day). It’s having a high adoption rate to change. When I was at Dell, we had a new product that other reps dreaded. It was a good product, but it’s typically a b**** to learn the ins and outs of a new on-premise infrastructure. Naturally, most reps “avoided the new”. I figured I had nothing to lose, so decided to step in and say, “what’s the worst that can happen”? It wasn’t fun but I learned a lesson you can have.. Whenever there is a new product release, these are decisions that have been thought about for years. And so the best thing you can do is be an early adopter . While everyone is waiting on the sidelines, give yourself an awesome chance to light up the KPI board with opps. This is a pivotal time when a lot of leadership will be viewing the KPI board. So make a name for yourself. Stick out like a sore thumb. Whether the product hits or not, I guarantee leadership will remember your name when promotions come up. P.S. Here’s a pic from my most recent trip to Canada. Highly recommend visiting BANF and Yoho if you get a chance.
I thought this pic looked familiar! My wife & I were in Banff/Yoho last month. Insane views. 👏
Technology is a changemaker in society, so if you want to sell it you need to be just as adaptable to change!
