Man, this space is unreal! Change of scenery is good for so many reasons, right? I work from home primarily, but at least 1-2 times a week I try to find a new place to set-up shop. Why? 👉 You meet new people - Although a solopreneur, I don't accomplish anything without community! TA Conference 2023: Still Buzzing from an Overdose of Inspiration! To our LinkedIn community, apologies if we seemed a little MIA for the past two days. We were deep in the heart of our Talent Acquisition conference, soaking up more innovation, inclusivity, and celebration than we knew what to do with! I think I might’ve overdone it on the innovation shots, inclusivity cocktails, and celebration spritzers because, wow—I’m feeling this conference like a proper hangover! One Too Many Innovation Shots From keynotes to hands-on sessions, I definitely went all in on the innovation. New tech, fresh approaches to finding talent… yep, I’m still seeing double (but in the best way)! Inclusivity Cocktails, Shaken and Stirred We didn’t just talk diversity—we explored ways to make it a core ingredient. I’m walking away with fresh ideas on how to keep inclusion at the heart of what we do, and the ideas are still buzzing! Celebration Spritzers on Tap And we didn’t hold back on celebrating. From team wins to personal growth, we toasted every bit of progress. Now I’m left with that warm, fizzy feeling that reminds me why we do what we do. If this is what an inspiration hangover feels like, I’m not reaching for any cure. Two weeks ago, we launched the first edition of the Employment Edge newsletter.    Surprisingly, the topic that fostered further conversations and resonated most with readers, was around our insights and commitment around social mobility. Barrington Hibbert Associates has a long track record of working with firms to hire, develop and retain candidates from under-represented backgrounds, including those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.   Furthermore, a significant amount of our social impact work, including my role as a co-founder of The 10,000 Interns Foundation has focused on supporting those from lower socio-economic backgrounds, and removing barriers to entry around access to employment, paid work experience, training, and development.   As existing data, our conversations with clients and the standout response to the newsletter clearly demonstrate, social mobility continues to pose a significant workplace challenge.    I know firsthand that many organisations wish to tackle this challenge - even if they are uncertain about what addressing socio economic diversity entails.   Acknowledging the challenges created from disparities in socio-economic standings is a start. However, real change happens when bold leaders actively seek to foster and develop equitable solutions across their organisations.    Is your organisation willing to step up to this challenge and take action to close the opportunity gap?   Thank you to everyone who read and subscribed to the newsletter so far (1,500 subscribers in 2 weeks!!)   Follow the link below to read and subscribe to The Employment Edge’s March newsletter. To continue my earlier post regarding the #BrightNetworkResearch, I commented on Paul Porter's post, and LI gave me the option for sharing, so here are my thoughts: ⁉ Problem: Students are applying for multiple roles, dropping out halfway through process, and likely to renege if a better offer comes along. ✔ Solution: A targeted attraction campaign that reaches only (truly) interested candidates, informed them, enabled them, and engaged them with meaningful (and ideally tailored) insight up front, an appropriate assessment process, and an immersive high touch (again, tailored) onboarding experience. 👍 Outcome: Reduced quantity, improved quality talent pipeline, massively enhanced candidate experience, saving time and money (for clients and candidates), and challenges such as socioeconomic and DE&I imbalances all addressed. This isn't wishful thinking, or idealistic, they are real options, and there are many proven tech solutions that can make this all happen (quickly too, with measurable ROI). Simple!
