Simplicity wins every time, but the caveat is that to pull off simple, the ingredients need to be GOOD, because there is nowhere to hide. Case in point: Prosciutto e Melone. It takes about 5 minutes to make and can be the epitome of summer if you do it right. Instead of TJ’s Private Label balsamic glaze with lots of sugar in it, just use 1/3 as much REAL aged balsamic for the same price and 10x the flavor. Use some fresh mint and Oregano from the garden, and upgrade to REAL freshly sliced Prosciutto San Danielle cut by someone who knows what they are doing. Presto. The same principle can apply to any food product that anyone makes, anywhere. When faced with the choice between quality and quantity, always “protect the brand”.
